[item value="10"]Kasey Taylor and Gai Barone - Distance Between Us / From AFAR [/item]
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Kasey Taylor and Gai Barone present a stellar collaboration with their tracks "Distance Between Us" and "From AFAR," both released under Afterglow Records. As compositions that sit confidently at 123 BPM, they offer a vivid exploration of deep melodic progressive house and trance, elevated by their rich textures and organic elements. From a technical standpoint, these tracks are a masterclass in sound design, showcasing layers of warm synths intertwined with cinematic sound effects that evoke emotion and depth. The meticulous production work is evident in the clean, crisp soundscape, ensuring that every beat and synth line resonates with clarity and purpose. The warmth of the synths combined with the intricacies of the arrangement creates a sonic experience that is both enveloping and thought-provoking. "Distance Between Us" stands out with its innovative use of distorted synths, which metaphorically represent the distance created by technology when connectivity falters. The track's intricate layering and progression keep listeners engaged, creating an anticipation for the next evolution in its sonic journey. The cosmic effects woven into the track add a mystical quality, further enhancing its appeal and allure. The "Four Candles" remix of "Distance From Us" takes the original track to new heights, delivering a playful arrangement that highlights the creative genius behind the remix. Its clever structuring echoes the classic arrangements of Oliver Lieb, offering a nostalgic yet fresh take that is bound to captivate fans of hypnotic progressive music. Overall, Taylor and Barone have crafted tracks that are not only technically impressive but also resonate on a deeper emotional level. They invite listeners on a journey of self-discovery and introspection, offering a rich auditory tapestry that stands out in today's music landscape, often criticized for its superficiality. These compositions are a testament to the duo's artistic vision and their commitment to creating music that is both innovative and soulful. If you appreciate music that transcends the ordinary and elevates your senses, these tracks are not to be missed. #PureGold Love IT [/content]

Renowned Australian dance music artist Kasey Taylor has made a significant impact on the scene, particularly in his hometown of Melbourne. His talent was recognized by John Digweed in the mid-1990s, who invited Taylor to perform at his renowned Bedrock night in London. This pivotal moment propelled Taylor’s music to a global audience, leading to international exposure and a permanent relocation to Portugal to accommodate his growing international bookings.

Currently, Taylor holds creative control over three esteemed record labels: Vapour Recordings, a highly respected imprint founded in 2006 and boasting over 150 releases; eVapour8, a 23-year-old subsidiary that achieved significant success by topping the Beatport charts with its debut release; and Lo-Fi 45, a new venture where Taylor mentors local Australian talent.

2019 marks a transformative year for Taylor, marked by both personal and creative rejuvenation. He is also embarking on a comprehensive rebranding strategy. Vapour Recordings has undergone a revamp, introducing a new online portal that will coincide with an exciting release roster of fresh music, captivating audiences with some of the genre’s most prominent figures.

In addition to these developments, Taylor has a packed bookings schedule, setting the stage for one of Australia’s most popular dance music artists to introduce himself to a new generation of enthusiasts.

Over a decade of distinguished career, Gai Barone has established himself as one of electronic music’s most sought-after artists. A decision was made to shake things up. Once that was done, says John 00 Fleming, that change took on a life of its own”. The “it” JOOF refers to is ‘Editions’ - his rule-adverse compilation series, which is currently on the touchline, warming up for its fifth outing. The most apparent modification is in the number of DJs mixing it, which has leapt - quadrupling (yup!) from one to four. “Originally I was just going to bring in one other, but amazing co-mixing suggestions kept coming up. Those suggestions turned into options and, well, here we are!”

It has says John allowed for the album to become a far more focussed affair”. With runtimes regularly pushing five hours, Vols. 1 thru 4 were nothing less than odysseys into the fantastic minutiae of progressive. Epic, deep sonic probes, endeavouring to explore every corner of an arguably limitless genre. Beatport all-genre chart toppers and agents of scene change (they played their part in unlocking ASOT door to Progressive last year) ‘JOOF Editions’ mixes became the new apotheosis in journeys by a DJ. In 2019 however, ‘JOOF Editions’ is getting both smaller and larger. With the series’ door opened to a cadre of label friends and fellow defenders of the electronic music underground, joining him in 2019 are Gai Barone, Paul Thomas and Tim Penner.

To accommodate, John’s reined in the legendarily expansive limits of his own mix. However the release’s overall musical length has almost doubled in size again. Each of the handpicked DJs had up to two-hours with which to make the case for their own particular tract of progressive. “It’s very much the best of all worlds, John feels. It’s allowed me to become even more focussed on a couple of bandwidths, while my co-mixers travel their own lanes, broadening the release as a whole”.

Fleming’s fifth is the perfect truncation of the JOOF Editions’ you know and love. Its wonderful spacey intro calcifies swiftly into a chunkier, more groove-hardy thing. Incorporating housier undertones along the way, Basil O'Glue’s ‘Nekyia’ and - in its Facade variation - ‘Shrine’ sit alongside Stan Kolev’s ‘Ananda’. Delivering one stunning, toughly percussive and echoically-intense sequence after another, it culminates with ‘Arise’ and ‘Timelapse’ – a double hit from Jerome Isma-Ae. At the midpoint, John’s mix traverses subtlety but unmistakable onto darker, more robust terra. JOOF’s own ‘Drop From The Vile’ and Miika Kuisma’s ‘Tri-be’ shadow Airwave’s ‘Perth To San Diego’, themselves prefacing a dozen other killers. Mix-matters come to the most anthemic of heads through Oliver Prime’s envisioning of LSG’s ‘Netherworld’.

The first of JOOF’s ‘Editions’ guest-mixers is the suddenly-everywhere Canadian, Tim Penner. A man with a notable passion for progressive’s more abstract and avant-garde natures, Tim’s delivers a ceaselessly fascinating two hours of music. Needlework-fine in its mixing, precisely nuanced and exploratory in the sonics, it courses with the latest soundware from The Stupid Experts, Rick Pier O'Neil, ACUMEN, Be Morais and others. Alongside, naturally, is a respectively significant dose of Penner’s own material, sourced from his just-released ‘Radio Silence’ album. Bringing Tim on board, John said: “Once in each decade you come across a genius of a producer. One that is so far forward thinking you’re unsure where to place them in the genre sphere. That’s Tim Penner in a nutshell”.

No introduction necessary!” however is how John heralds ‘Editions 5’s next-to-the-decks. (Heck, he’ll give him one anyway!). “Gai Barone is a producer who - from Sasha to Armin van Buuren, exists outside every bubble. His hypnotic melodies have become irresistible to every music lover. Its not just talent either, Gai is one of the loveliest most humble artists on this planet.” In his quest to do justice to the Editions’ remap, the Italian’s gone to some extraordinary lengths. An album capsule perched atop a mix-comp rocket, whether it be original or remix, Gai’s had a hand in no less than 14 of the 17 tracks in his mix. Aliases too? You betcha. Charlotte Petitte, Dead Panther, Tannura Revolutionary Blocks, Celvee, Ayer Astura, Barra Uno – all extraordinary, all new Barone masks and monikers.

Last and by no means least is moonlighting FSOE UV A&R man, Paul Thomas. Welcoming Paul, John says: “The latest new breed rising over the past couple of years getting on the radar of the likes of Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren along with touching a chord with the Trance world too, says John. One of the standout Progressive DJ/Producers over the past few years”, Paul Thomas angles his mix a touch later-night than his co-mixers. Elevating its tempo, through key tracks like Dmitry Molosh’s ‘Sacra’, Molosh’s rewire of Aly & Fila vs. Ferry Corsten’s ‘Camellia’ and Paul’s own ‘Joheia’ & ‘Lorax’ numbers, he brings greater emphasis to melodica, lift and endzone drive.

Fleming. Barone. Thomas. Penner. The men behind the only progressive compilation anyone’s gonna need this year!?? Well that’s for you to tell us! All eight hours of it drops next month. You can pre-order it here

Lastly to celebrate the release of the fifth ‘JOOF Editions’, John’s taking it back to where it all began. On April 21 at The Arch in his hometown Brighton, Hernan Cattaneo, co-mixer Paul Thomas and John himself will toast the album’s arrival. A rare chance to see the globe-circling DJ in his native environment and an even rarer opportunity to see Argentina’s greatest musical export outside the UK’s capital - this (literally!) is not to be taken sitting down. Easter Sunday, The Arch, Brighton.

A fan favourite from ‘Electronic Excursions’; ‘Celeste’ is all about the slow burn. With a moody, hypnotic analogue arpeggiator that ebbs and flows throughout this +8 minute ‘electronic excursion’ & meaty synth brass summoning up memories of Pink Floyds’ Dark Side of the Moon’. Gai Barone’s remix is without doubt one of his finest – and darkest – to date; soaking the listener in reverb this version is at home on a very dark, sweaty, strobe pulsed dance floor. Gai makes the arpeggiator contract and explode, kind of like an audible singularity, then lets the LFO filters have their wicked way post drop.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Hal Stucker aka David Forbes delivers an excellent club mix of Celeste which is a warm melodic calming slowly evolving and highly involving progressive beauty that creates excellent atmosphere that has the daydream influence on any listener as you will feel definitely above and away from anything that binds you with the mandate reality. The absolute track to loose yourself in the music and never find the way out of it. The spiral synths along with the little piano chords and the background that has hints of being balearic but at the same time dark and very moody build magnificent atmosphere. Gai Barone remix transforms the original with its slow paced deep basslines, crunchy percussion and stunning long cinematic breakdown that allows the swirling synths to shine and sparkle until the big crescendo moment of excitement followed by the climax that carries the listener for that mysterious journey of moody textures and adventurous avant garde arrangement to surprise and captivate. #PureGold Love IT [/content]

 [item value="10"]Gai Barone - Under Zero[/item]
[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]The Italian artist Gai Barone has been praised and recognised globally for his music production abilities. His compositions with references in the great progressive house sound with certain Italo synthy 80's infusions and of course strong trancy hypnotic atmosphere that makes the track difficult to categorize under any other category than real progressive. Under Zero is an EP that showcases where the Gai sound is now and where is heading in the future. By listening to all 6 originals included is impossible not to recognise that his sound is more complex, varied and has that sweet maturity of the good old wine. It's the type of music that works perfectly at home or in the club with closed eyes and wide open ears with one single goal in mind and that is the peaceful relaxing smooth journey that manage these tracks to take you up and away. Rolling basslines, chunky tribalish drums and lively percussion while on top his long dreamy synths are combined with his moody strings that create a very immersive and highly infectious result. Chavah is tripping out sonic experience with piano like synthy melody that runs throughout the track adding that space explorer kind of impression in your mind. Walking is more suspenseful and thrilling creating that illusion of walking towards discovery and exploration rather than being casual walk for shopping for instance. Formal is a clubbier more upfront affair with variety of 80's infused detuned type of synthy hooks that work like acupuncture for your body combined with melodramatic epic like strings to build tension and deliver release. Minefract is relaxing and carefree with dream like texture that is  continuously evolving  and involving the listeners attention. Neena is upfront and driving with balearic trance reference perfect for those early morning sets with long and teasing chilling breakdown leading to the powerfully pumping and thumping climax with big distorted synthy hook. The 6th original track A Kick Maybe has a certain bittersweet taste with dark and colorful fighting inside you leading to the more hopeful and positive climax. Lastly Nexo is transformed by Luka Sambe into a more full on club friendly prog house affair with dynamic bass and thumping kick while the original synthy themes running on top giving a much more energetic epic peak time production. Quality from start to finish! #PureGold Love IT  [/content]

We welcome the magnificent Gai Barone back to Bonzai Progressive with the superb Flash, which is backed up by a solid remix from Cherry. Gai continues to churn out top quality cuts on various labels and, he is a firm favourite here at BP as his brand of deep, flowing progressive house and trance sits comfortably on the legendary label. His last outing for us - Myonic ? was very well received indeed, not to mention his eclectic 2 part In The Mix 006 which also gained a physical release. As well as travelling the world, alluring his fans, his radioshow Patterns is listened to religiously by a worldwide fan base and he is held in very high regard by his peers, with many citing him as an inspiration to produce their own music. Always a pleasure to have this guy around.

The Original Mix opens up into a cosmic world filled with a rolling synth line and pulsing basses. A nice chunky kick drum leads the drums while subtle percussions start to build into a steady flowing rhythm. Hypnotic arpeggios cascade through the groove, lacing the track with sweet melodies. The multi-layered basses add warmth and depth as infectious scathing synths with a retro twist join in. Such a gem of track that flows effortlessly and a solid slice of progressive goodness that will definitely keep the party rocking.

Cherry aka Ukraine based DJ and producer Oleh Cherkes returns on remix duties and once again he delivers the goods in style. No stranger to the scene, Oleh has several releases on various labels and his music enjoys a lot of support from across the board. His first two efforts for us titled Mnong and Alma gained great support as dis his remix on Iga Dep's Phobia. He is also known for his dynamic, building sets that always pleases the crowd. Great to have him on board here at BP and we hope to see much more soon. On the remix here, we get thrust into a full-on progressive mover thanks to a tight drum section and bright flowing arpeggios. A beefy bassline rolls beautifully through the groove, luring you to the floor while superb melodic percussions and airy pads add an extra layer of progressive bliss. An exceptional cut and a definite must have for the more upbeat party.

A standout track from Pure Trance Vol. 6 gets a major shakedown from one of the uplifting trance scene’s more interesting talents: Liverpool’s Danny Eaton. Eaton, a man with recent signings to ITWT, FSOE & Armada to his name – takes the essence of Gai Barone’s prog-trance masterpiece and weaves them into a pumping #140 bpm workout. Fans of the Italian savant will be relieved that none of Barone’s wonderful melodic elements are absent here. Danny - clearly a fan of the original – has stamped his imprint on the production (as opposed to the musical content) preserving those awesome ‘Turn Around & See Me Shine’ vocoders as his main hook

As our first release on our brand new label we are going for something old (and classic) and something new (and bang-on point). One of the most famous melodies in trance began as a vocal on a b-side of Jan Johnston's first solo single. In 1995 it found its way to BT, who first sampled it and then asked Jan to re-sing it for his Taylor project. It was initial released in the US and then on Platipus in the UK. Remixed and re-released several times in its lif. Jan re-recorded the track in 2003 and 15 years later we are pleased to have the vocal classic as our debut track.
Jan Johnson

First up is one of the 'men of the moment' on the progressive trance scene. Italy's Gai Barone introduces his trademark muscular grooves and swirling arpeggios, all finely intertwined with Jan's vocals. We crank things up and set dials for big-room-trance as UK based Peter Steele delivers his uptempo peak time grooves to fine effect.

We head off to Hungary next for Anjuna favourite Sunny Lax with his intricate and layered progressive electronic rework. Taking a step back to its original release we include the Thrillseekers trance master class and the mellow ambient pads of the Art Of Trance Chillout version. Alternate versions from Kansai and Neo and Farina are also included on the full package.

Stay tuned for more from Solar Storm and Jan Johnston.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Jan Johnson is one of the most beloved trance singers with incredible voice. Calling Your Name is an absolutely lovable classic with stunning remixes to die for. Gai Barone goes for his exceptional deep moody sensual sound of dark progressive that adds certain darkness and cinematic tripping out dimension to the original eternal classic. Peter Steele takes the track in his solid uplifting trance territory with application of the full emotional vocal and superb synthy melodies and warm strings that will offer you the right dose of trance class for sure. Last of the new remixes is the superb Sunny Lax who does what he knows best with thumping grooves, big room pulsating basslines, piano chords, big uplifting synths and excellent use of the brilliant classic that goes deep under your skin and will haunt you for sure. This is what I call Vocal Trance! #PureGold Love IT[/content]

Gai Barone is on the mixing duties of the latest Bonzai Progressive compilation In The Mix Vol.6. After the very successful previous editions the legendary compilation series returns with Gai Barone who has selected some of the finest progressive house cuts mainly from Bonzai Progressive but also from other well known record labels in the progressive scene. It's super hard not to love this sympathetic Italian with that endless talent and great taste for progressive at the edge away from what the mainstream sirens may dictate to produce and be successful. Last time we met Gai Barone in person was at the Pure Trance ADE event when we did an interview along with Basil O'Glue and Andromedha. Now Gai on its own takes the risk to answer our questions with very enlightening answers. Read it now while on your CD player or digital download or streaming service you enjoy his In The Mix vol.6 compilation. You can buy at beatport click here

Interview is written and conducted by Dimitri Kechagias, Music Journalist and Radio DJ

Dimitri: First of all nice to have you back after our epic video interview at Pure Trance event during ADE 2017. Let’s connect the dots and tell us what you were up too from November till now that you are replying to this interview.

Gai: My Pleasure , always great to be part of the Flux Blog!!! It was amazing to see you at ADE and still remember that interview, with Haris and Patrick, definitely one of the best I ever had! Well, I had some gigs around the globe, I’ve played at the progressive stage for ASOT with some of my fav heroes, finished 4 different remixes and mixed a beautiful compilation for Bonzai ;)

Dimitri: Of course your main release the last few months was your In The Mix vol.6 compilation for Bonzai Progressive. Your latest mixed compilation was for Pure Trance along with Gai Barone. What are the differences between these two dj mixes? Have you treated the compilations differently?

Gai: Well I think there are not big differences, actually I my way of choosing or picking tracks is always the same, maybe there’s more about me, I mean Gai Tracks in the Bonzai compilation, but both reflect my world and what I really love.

Dimitri: Do you usually get some guidance from the label about where they wish the compilation to go or you were free for example for In The Mix vol.6 to choose the tracks that you adore to include in it?

Gai: It was very easy to choose the tracks for the compilation as we worked very well with the Bonzai team, they sent me some tracks and let me free to choose the ones I loved most; so I did, selected almost every track they sent me, absolutely stunning pieces and added some gai-flavour to them, and the compilations was ready to go
Gai Barone

Dimitri: In The Mix vol.6 includes great wealth of material from Bonzai Progressive. What is your opinion about the record label and its contribution in the electronic dance music culture.

Gai: you can’t even imagine how many vinyls I have collected from the Bonzai Label in the years ! It’s been a great honour to work with one the most important label for electronic and dance music! They were real pioneers in the industry and still delivering some of the best tools for me as a dj!

Dimitri: Can you describe to us the process of selecting, mixing and releasing this compilation. How did you work for it? Did you use particular DJ software that allows you to do any correction and reach perfection or you use DJ decks to record it?

Gai: As I told you it was very easy to select the tracks for the compilation, if I feel a track I usually play it, that’s it, and it worked for the compilation as well! about the mixing process, I used the software Mixed in Key and Ableton , both made my life easier!

Dimitri: It would be fantastic to pick for us your Top 5 tracks from within the compilation and give us a short comment about the importance of each track for you.

Gai: Wellenrausch track, under his alias Kymatic is absolutely a stunning track! A masterpiece of techno and progressive!

Mark Found track is stunning, big fan of him and I’m sure he ll be one of the best in the next months;

Tanner, Half Way, it’s one of my favorite track to warm it up properly!

My Tanita, which is the intro track of the first part of the compilation ! I m in love with Twist in My Sobriety and always wanted to give this tune a light progressive touch;

And the last but not the least another one from , a track called the Bloop, hard to define, cause it’s a not a trance track, nor a progressive nor a techno but I love people reactions every time I play it!

Dimitri: Do you see this compilation as reflection of your actual dj sets or you tried to take care the home and car listeners who enjoy this compilation in their intimate personal surroundings?

Gai: Definitely this is what I play at the moment, and The Progressive Section may be one of the sets I play in a club right now!

Dimitri: Did you had the opportunity to check out the previous edition of the In The Mix series? If yes which volume is your favourite and why?

Gai: Yes indeed and I really loved the selection from Mr Aiwave, still one to remember

Dimitri: Bonzai Progressive release schedule is vast so are there any tracks that you wished to include in the compilation and for whatever reason you didn’t manage to add them?

Gai: Probably some more Antidote track, something that I’m feeling at the moment, it ’s what the real deep trance should sound, in my opinion!

Dimitri: Are you going to release new material on Bonzai Progressive soon?

Gai: ...and the answer is Yes!! I can’t wait, there’s a new track called Myonic, which will see the light along with an awesome remix from a stellar Producer I love….but it’s still a secret ;)

Dimitri: It would be great to talk about some of your latest tunes as well. Can you give us a short comment about each one of them?

Gai: Basil O'Glue - Everyone has a story (Gai Barone Remix): it’s a trippy track, a bit of techno, progressive, trance and tech house! I really enjoyed making this remix for a good friend ;)

Gai Barone – Monoroid: I’m so happy about it, and even more for releasing it on Zero Three! One of the best label for Real Prog! They rock

Wellenrausch & Gai Barone - Heroes of Light: Believe me, working with Torsten is amazing, we share the same attitude for music and for producing it! and what to say about the Markus’ Voice ? Such a stellar TUNE!

Dimitri: Some labels are tempted to release uplifting or big room trance remixes of your tracks. Do you welcome this interpretations and which remix from other artist in your track is your favourite?

Gai: Honestly I like the way the other producers see my music, and I’m ok with that, I know that tastes are purely personal, but music is a Godsend and everyone should have the chance to express their on point of view about it.

Dimitri: I was very happy to see you as part of the ASOT850 Utrecht line up. How your experience of your DJ set at ASOT was and are you happy to see progressive getting the recognition it deserves in such big scale mass dance events?

Gai: It was such a stellar night, totally different from the others, I mean I’m a “shy” progressive dj and being there with those giants was unbelievable ! I didn’t even know what to play at the beginning, but seeing that crowd dancing on the progressive stage is something I ll never forget! I know that progressive is always an issue for many people out there, expecting more banging or uplifting tunes, but I’m sure that something is changing, and I’ll be my best to help this movement to be bigger and better! Promise

Dimitri: Which events are coming up in your tour schedule and we should have an eye on them?

Gai: I'll be in San Francisco this Saturday for the Pure Trance VI celebration and I’ m so looking forward to it, next my debut in Cardiff with Will Rees and in may another special Pure Trance Event in Phuket at the Unkonscius Beach Festival!

Dimitri: Lets finish of with your predictions for 2018. Can you pick your top 3 artists that you believe that would do great in 2018?

Gai: Mark Found

Division One

Tannura

Dimitri: Thanks Gai very much for this interview.

30 months on from Bonzai’s first (Airwave-helmed) ‘Progressive Sessions’, Belgium’s finest sure-footedly arrive at their sixth ‘In The Mix’. Coincidence or otherwise, that’s the same timeframe in which its helmsman Gai Barone has marched from respected dark sonic matter merchant to lightning rod for the next coming of Deep.

Making professional strides (“few gained more career ground in 2017” considered DJ Mag last month) through tracks like ‘Shiny’ and ‘There’s A Lady’, his DJ performances have become evermore a clubbing-year essential.

With a zeitgeist-like timing, Bonzai have handed the I.T.M. mix-reins to this electronic music savant. The Italian’s first solo-mixed release, it puts his singular take on electronic music - one more complex and meticulous in character - into tack-sharp focus.

Be you trance, progressive or house, if the name ‘Gai Barone’ didn’t pass your lips in 2017, well better bet it will this year! Why? Well, foremost, his intrinsic sound is at a tipping point in 2018.

“From the top down, everyone’s saying it… says the Italian. “This will be the year of Deep. You only have to look at the direction of arena stages, club line-ups, label output, radio playlists, etc to see where that’s coming from. It’s just one of the reasons I’m so thrilled to be bringing this release in the earliest months of the most promising of electronic music years.”
Barone ascension has come with many benefits, not least establishing him as a tastemaker/barometer of all matters deep. The Go-To Gai (if you will!) for producers wishing to test the mettle of their latest wares, it has given Barone’s unparalleled pick of new material for the album.

His mix criterion is simple: “music of substance, not simplicity. Some find it easier to corral the music I play into the ‘deep trance’ bracket, which I do understand. We live in a world of classification. I do feel there’s significantly more range to it though. Barone tends to find adjectives rather than genres/sub genres most useful when summing his sound. “Moving”, “exacting” “intricate”, “atmospheric” - these are a few of the words he uses to describe what happens throughout ‘006’s runtime. “Less predictable” is another. “You’re not going to hear one harmonic trancer or deep-prog number after another, after another here. The mixes are designed as end-to-end listens. What happens in between is not always going to be what’s expected”.
His “substance not simplicity” mandate rings true throughout Part 1. Gai’s trademark ‘portrait-style’ compiling (each track at once standing out, yet working coherently in the album’s framework) delivers Kymatik’s ‘Knights of the Jaguar’ channeling ‘La Bataeu Ivre, the chugging ‘Inversion’ from Chris Cargo, TR20’s hardier ‘Perception Management’ and the cooler frisson of ‘Behind’ from newcomers Revolutionary Blocks. The mix concludes with Andromedha’s revision of York & Ramon (Hardfloor) Zenker’s ‘China Girl’.

His own music naturally plays a key role in the threading of both mixes. New cuts ‘Tanita’ and ‘Cantica’ both debuts within the first half. ‘Something Between Us’ and ‘The Bloop’ meanwhile etch waypoints in the second. Interlaced between are Oovation’s synth-warping ‘Solar’, ‘The Passenger’ from Montenegro’s AudioStorm, Yuriy From Russia’s elegiac ‘Black Lagoon’ and the drop-side intensity of ‘Dust of Light’ c/o Mark Found. The release plays out with the epic-in-scope, first time teaming of Solarstone & John 00 Fleming with ‘Hemispheres’

PTP012. Taken from Disc 1 of Pure Trance Vol. 5, here is Gai’s swirling & mesmerising remix of this forgotten gem from 2006. Gai Barone’s role as a leading light in the resurgent progressive trance scene cannot be overstated & his unique sound encapsulates all that is wonderful about the darker & deeper side of the pure trance sound. Multiple layers of immersive & expressive sequences form a rich tapestry of melody, texture & atmosphere, a soundscape that lends itself perfectly to headphones, home listening & the club experience alike. Not to be missed.

PTP012X. Remastered & reissued, here is the original extended version plus two other mixes from the 2007 release of ‘Supersonic’. Remastering with today’s techniques has breathed new life into these 3 timeless beauties; the Original version was already ahead of its time back then & its organic and experimental layers of sounds and textures have worn the years well. Martin Roth’s former incarnation as a producer was one of powerful and punchy peak time trance, he caused a flurry of excitement when he burst onto the trance scene all those years ago, and it’s easy to hear why. Completing the lineup is a repolished Ambient Mix, one for those lazy post-clubbing lounge sessions when the tempo is dropped & the atmospherics embraced.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]The 5th instalment of the Pure Trance compilation arrived and one of the jewels included is the brilliant remix by Gai Barone on Leo G evergreen Supersonic. Gai is as always truly impressive as he builds his own version with deep haunting pulsating basslines, driving rolling drums while on top various sound effects are added along with spoken vocal snippets. Slowly the synthy layers are introduced and the warmth of this beauty radiates all over the track. Deep involving and evolving production with heavenly voices, airy pads, superb synthy work and incredible drive that pushes the adrenaline levels to higher levels and give you uncountable amount of goosebumps. Gai goes deeper and reinvents the evergreen classic in his own warm, emotional and absolutely mouthwatering sound. Quality always wins and Gai knows how to carry you away and introduce you to his own spiritual supersonic dimension. The package includes the remastered versions of the original release that sound exciting and definitely make you wonder why Martin Roth has abandon the trance genre that he knew so well. #PureGold Love it [/content]
