NEW COMPILATION
Having stopped to smell the roses for a few cycles, Roger Shah’s hallmark music compilation series returns to streams, stores and shelves in 2026. Onboard, naturally, is its usual, impeccable prog/trance/house blend of melodic-tropics, harmonic sonics, castaway chords, beachfront character and seaside atmosphere. Ready to do it to the summer, before the summer does it to us, here comes ‘Magic Island – Music For Balearic People 13’ !!

As is his way, Roger Shah’s again pursued a one-hundred-percent exclusive material mandate for his latest ‘M.I.’ excursion. To that end, he’s reunited his singing, songwriting and composing family of ‘Balearic People’ for lucky no.13. Those returning from the last edition alone include Pierre Pienaar, Rafael Osmo, Yelow, Ditoma, Clarks, Aytaro, Spy and, naturally enough, Roger’s Sunlounger alias - all contributing to its compound hybrid makeup.

Adding to that family are actual blood-tied Shahs. Three years further on, Roger’s son Noah Shah has taken on an expanded role in this generational affair, contributing not only a clutch of his own tracks, but also stepping into a curatorial A and R role.

Roger goes on to explain. “While I was spending a lot of time working on the uplifting trance material for mix 2, Noah did a fantastic job on the A and R side, uncovering some amazing tracks and exciting new talent for the opening half. The mix also shines a spotlight on many releases from our Magic Island Deep label, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to bring all these elements together and craft another summer-inspired compilation.

‘13’ opens in ‘Magic Island’s time-honoured daybreak light—fresh and expansive and melodic, though thoroughly unhurried in its telling. Early cuts such as 'Vanuatu' from Dutch producer Clarks, Rafael Osmo’s spellbinding 'Over Time You Have Become', and 'Your Heart Knows' from Amir Telem establish a heat-hazed outline to its lower-tempo progressivism. That vibe of earlier-morning introspection is further shaped by SidekoDJ’s 'I'm Lost in Love' and 'Lose Your Mind' from Ben Beckman. Those in turn open the door for Noah’s more pronounced stance on 'Your Call' and 'Feel Alright' (alongside NØSH), both of which transmit a clearer, clubbier, more front-footed direction for the mix.

Led by a quad threat of Sunlounger, MOKX, SaedYm and 88Birds, with 'Less Hate More Love', the compilation enters more heart-on-sleeve territory, before progressing further into the shadowlands of Ditoma’s 'Darkest Desires' and 'Destino' from Icotenai Project. As its journey develops, it opens up to later-stage highlights such as Katoff’s 'Burning Shadows', 'Beyond Your Smile' from Andy Woldman, Roger-M’s emphatic 'Meant To Be', and TRIP RGAZZI’s 'Leave It All Behind'.

If its first half charts dawn-through-daytime, Disc 2 burns with the full blaze of a Magic Island night. Higher in intensity, broader in stylistic scope, and with its gaze firmly locked on the heavens, it opens with Roger Shah, Kristina Sky and Evan Henzi’s 'Memories Of Space'. That immediately brings a commanding vocal presence to the mix, which is added to by the crystalline drive of Spy’s 'Eikon'. The pulse climbs further through Ambedoverse’s 'Chasing Grays' (in Roger Shah Uplifting Mix form), while Roger duels (and duals!) with Edwin ‘Yelow’ Tsui on the back-to-back 'A Better Place' and 'Serendipity'.

At Mix 2’s midpoint, Roger broadens the palette further with selections including Yodis’s 'Le Vanda' and Eric de la Vega and Alaera’s 'Cuando El Amor Acaba'. Together they provide the perfect launch point for 'Enchanted Dreams', which sees Roger joining forces with FSOE luminaries Omar Sherif and Philippe El Sisi. Mix 2 closes in the same formation as it began, as 'Hear Me Calling' sees Roger reunite with Kristina Sky and Evan Henzi for the album’s event-horizon finale.

"Summer ain’t been quite the same without a trip to the ‘Magic Island’! Boarding recommences NOW’.

GRAMMY-nominated electronic trio Above & Beyond today announces the return of their flagship compilation series with 'Anjunabeats Volume 17', marking a new chapter for the label following a four-year hiatus.

Spanning 35 tracks across two mixes, 'Anjunabeats Volume 17' is the latest edition in the series’ two-decade history. Curated between Above & Beyond’s London studio and their global touring schedule, the compilation captures the evolving sound of Anjunabeats - spotlighting both long-standing collaborators and a new generation of artists shaping the label’s future.

Since its debut in 2003, the Anjunabeats Volume series has played a defining role in electronic music, introducing emerging talent and setting the tone for the label’s globally recognized blend of trance, progressive, and melodic club music. With Volume 17, Above & Beyond continue that tradition, delivering a forward-looking snapshot of where the sound is headed next.
“Following the release of 'Bigger Than All Of Us', it felt important for this next chapter to celebrate the artists that make Anjunabeats such an exciting label to be a part of,” say Above & Beyond. “Volume 17 includes music from artists we’ve worked with for years as well as new faces representing the future of the label.”

The compilation is split across two distinct mixes:

Disc One explores a deeper, progressive palette - from tribal grooves to ’90s trance nostalgia.

Disc Two captures the high-energy Anjunabeats sound built for festival moments around the world.

Leading the release is “When I Look In Your Eyes”, a new collaboration with longtime partner Justine Suissa, which premiered to 15,000 fans at Group Therapy 600 in Mexico City and quickly became one of the most in-demand IDs of the band’s recent world tour.

For the first time in the series’ history, 'Anjunabeats Volume 17' will also be available on vinyl, featuring a 12 track sampler handpicked by Above & Beyond.

AS IT NAVIGATES ITS SECOND ALBUM DECADE, SOLARSTONE BRINGS MAJOR CHANGES TO HIS MIXCOMP MARQUE. (MUSICAL PURITY HOWEVER REMAINS STRICTLY INTACT !!).

Having solo-helmed the milestone tenth ‘Pure Trance’ outing, Solarstone reflected at the time that it was: “a transitional moment’ for the series. A natural temporal point, where one ‘chapter’ would close and another open.”

And that new “chapter” is where we find ourselves today.

At their core, ‘Pure Trance’ albums has always had an ethos – something seeded in them from the very start. However, that culture Rich felt was: “achievable, but not yet fully achieved”. Specifically, it’s that of creating the albums the ‘Global Underground’ way or by following the ‘Northern Exposure’ trail. A commitment to compiling and mixing so detailed, so thought through and so experience-led, that it enshrines the 20/20 club experience as close to 1:1 as is humanly possible.

So, to finally make that flesh, he returned the series to the drawing board.

The first (and in all likelihood most significant) hurdle was getting its essence as-live-as-live gets. To that, a heaving February Saturday at London’s Fabric supplied it a trancefixing backdrop. There, every in-the-moment blend, fader glide, filter release and EQ twist, and every reciprocal crowd whistle and cheer as ‘XI’ was laid down was caught in the wild.

To achieve that elevates to the highest level the planning and coordination a DJ + team must undertake. Or as is the case here, DJs, plural. ‘XI’ marks the first time that ‘Pure Trance’ has recalled one of its former co-mixers. Closing the circle between this release and the very first Pure Trance is producer/DJ/composer Orkidea. On their very first meeting, he and Solarstone bonded over a shared love of ‘mixed-live’ compilations, so when it came time for ‘Pure Trance’ to take that route, the co-mixer selection pretty much made itself.

One aspect that’s not changed with the onset of ‘XI’ is (naturally!) the stylistic makeup of its sonics. Music from the new, the established and the establishment abounds, along with exclusive 2026 monsters-in-the-making and underground weapons aplenty. Judicious bring-backs for a smattering of imaginatively selected classics are also onboard, along with an absolute wealth of new Solarstone and Orkidea material.
Orkidea recalls that: “most of the tracks on Global Underground, Northern Exposure, Renaissance and the like had already been released by the time the albums came out. People fell in love with them through the compilations. It’s when you present tracks in a mix that they’re heard differently”. Solarstone picks up “In fact, they often don’t sound as good without the other elements of another record on top. It’s one of the aspects we paid most attention to on ‘PTXI’; there are some truly memorable ‘one plus one equals three moments’ on there!”

Weighing in at an unbroken 4+ hours digitally (*also available in triple disc and triple vinyl editions), ‘Pure Trance’s trip is an odyssey in everything but name. ‘XI’s opening tranche is where many of its more underground artists and records are couched. That said there’s still early deck-service paid to Tiësto’s rework of Delerium’s ‘Innocente’ and Glenn Morrison’s take on TasteXperience’s ‘Frustration’! Obie Fernandez’s ‘Naked’ and ‘Foreplay’ from Obie Dick (no relation on either count) gives off a distinct later-night progressive vibe. All smoked-out synths, low-riding bass and slow-fuse tension. ‘Broken Soul’ from Novacode and VADM’s ‘Space’ meanwhile stiffen the mix-stance by degrees, carving a tougher groove into ‘XI’s foothills.

Pure Trance XI’ bids a majestic farewell to its first hour with Solarstone & Orkidea’s (just released) ‘Slowmotion VII’ and Jamie Baggotts’ remix of Mr Sam vs Fred Baker’s achingly beautiful ‘Forever Waiting’. From there the mix departs the cooler hinterlands, subtly pivoting from the progressive-trance backfoot to a more trance-progressive front.

No coincidence then that this is where you’ll find the most concentrated seams of new Solarstone, Orkidea and close associates’ material. Cherry-picked from last year’s ‘innermost’ album, ‘dream sequence’ slipstreams into the more technotic throb of Super-Frog Saves Tokyo’s ‘Clarion’. Solarstone’s ‘Zero Hours’ and Allende’s studio-fresh remix of Rich & Tapio’s original ‘Slowmotion’ generates more of that flow, before Orkidea x’s with Sophie Moleta and Lowland on the beautifully suspended ‘Fall Into Love’.

As ‘Pure Trance XI’ passes its 2hr mix-marker, it again subtly adjusts its angle of attack, heralding classic sonics from Matt Darey’s Tekara (‘Breathe in You’) and Matti Laamanen’s mesmeric ‘Flakes’. ‘Haunt Me’, the most recent pairing between Rich & Susie Ledge, gives it a vocally-driven and emotionally charged element, while Solarstone’s ‘Energy Field’ adds more kinetic and propulsive aspects. That sharpens the mix’s forward momentum for a final time, allowing Bryan Kearney firestorm-like spin on Orkidea’s ‘Beautiful to deliver it a truly epic finale.

In electrifying form ‘XI’ launches the next phase in ‘Pure Trance’s fantastically storied, fifteen year history. It’s released on June 12 and is available for pre-save/order here.

A Definitive Double Vinyl Collection Celebrating Two Decades of Trance History, Featuring Timeless Anthems from Will Atkinson, Bryan Kearney, Billy Gillies, and John O'Callaghan.

Trance pioneer John O’Callaghan and his seminal record label, Subculture, have officially announced a historic milestone: the imprint’s first-ever physical vinyl release. Titled The Best of Subculture Volume 1, this exclusive double vinyl compilation curates the definitive anthems that have shaped the global trance landscape and dominated dancefloors since the label’s inception in 2006.

For the first time in Subculture history, fans can experience the raw power, emotional depth, and driving energy of the label's biggest hits on high-fidelity wax. Personally selected by John O’Callaghan, the tracklist is a masterclass in 138 BPM perfection, featuring eight iconic tracks presented in their full, unedited extended formats—with exactly two massive mixes per side.

The Best of Subculture Volume 1 serves as a time capsule of trance greatness. It brings together legendary vocal masterpieces like Bryan Kearney & Plumb’s heart-wrenching "All Over Again" and Flynn & Denton’s festival favorite "Say My Name" featuring Audrey Gallagher. The compilation also honors the label's underground club dominance, packing the sonic fury of Will Atkinson’s genre-defining "Numb The Pain" and Billy Gillies’ high-octane modern classic "Defender."

Naturally, the release features John O’Callaghan’s own legendary production catalog, including the majestic "One Special Particle," the euphoric "Choice Of The Angels," his stellar collaboration with Cold Blue on "Symmetric," and Will Atkinson’s explosive remix of "Lies Cost Nothing."
