ALBUM REVIEW: Romain Garcia debut album ‘EURÊKA!’ - out now on Anjunadeep

‘EURÊKA!’ is more than an album. It’s a memory, an attempt to hold onto a transformative summer that marked the turning point in Romain’s career and life.

The record unfolds like a diary of that season. It begins with ‘well.. summer is over’ and ‘Eurêka’, an opening sequence that evokes waves, dunes, salt air and rugged coastal landscapes, and sets the stage for everything that follows. From there, the narrative becomes joyful with ‘Next To You’, a celebration of the people who transform a summer into something unforgettable. That euphoria is quickly counterbalanced by ‘Alone’, written during a period of creative solitude, when Romain pushed forward without knowing where his music would lead him, guided only by instinct.

Moments of playfulness emerge in ‘Heya’, inspired by watching dogs run wild on the shoreline, their unpredictable energy turned into rhythm. A more suspenseful atmosphere follows with ‘Regarder la nuit’, a track shaped by nights spent gazing at endless constellations, a reminder that to watch the night is to dream, escape, and imagine. In ‘Lost in Bisca’, Romain translates the experience of wandering through forests and beaches, of getting lost on purpose and discovering new corners of the world, and of himself.

The album then slips into stranger territory with ‘Tokyo Mafia’, a sonic hallucination that depicts nights when music blasted across the sand and reality began to warp, and created a trance-like blur. From there, ‘Desire’ explores the tension between the summer we present online and the one we actually live: bright, sunny, yet underscored by the deeper longing to feel alive and seen. The story continues with ‘Used To’, a bittersweet meditation on fleeting encounters, those bonds that burn brightly for a moment and then fade into memory.

Closing track ‘Other World’ captures the bittersweet feeling of summer’s end. For most, the season is a bubble outside of time; for Romain, this particular summer marked the moment that music became not just a pursuit, but the foundation of an entirely new life.

With ‘EURÊKA!’, Romain Garcia brings his audience into the moment that changed his path forever, distilling joy, desire, and discovery into music that feels both personal and universal.

Just as Romain has been drawn to reflect on this life-altering time, so listeners will be captivated by his artist’s impression of it.

Following the release of ‘EURÊKA!’, Romain will be taking the album on the road with an ambitious international tour. He will kick things off with a back-to-back set with Rezident at ADE and Anjunadeep’s boutique festival in Malta, before heading to Australia and Asia for a string of shows. Romain will begin the first phase of his album tour in early 2026 in the USA for a coast-to-coast run, followed by dates in India and a full European club tour, including a Paris headline show in March.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Romain Garcia’s “EURÊKA!” is a shimmering audio journal that translates one transformative summer into a vivid, cinematic listening experience, each track a chapter in a carefully crafted sonic memoir. The journey opens with “well.. summer is over”, a delicate introduction that sets the tone with airy pads, soft field recordings of wind and water, and subtle percussive textures. Its minimal arrangement and gentle sidechain compression create a pulsing, almost breathing effect, evoking the wistful pause at the close of a season. “Eurêka” follows, expanding into lush layers of synth swells and filtered arpeggios that roll like waves. The track’s tight kick and warm low-end give it a sense of forward motion, while the use of reverb-washed guitars and carefully automated filters mirrors the vastness of coastal horizons. “Next To You” bursts into life with crisp percussion and a bright melodic motif that dances atop a clean, driving four-on-the-floor beat. The production here shines in its balance between euphoria and restraint—vocals are treated with subtle delays that echo into the stereo field, and the layering of plucky synths against a bed of soft pads creates an immersive, sun-soaked atmosphere. This joy is tempered in “Alone”, a pivot toward introspection. Sparse rhythmic elements and a muted, analog bassline set the foundation, while isolated melodic phrases drift in and out, reflecting the solitude of its creation. The track’s use of space—long reverb tails and dynamic shifts—demonstrates Romain’s attention to emotional pacing. A playful energy returns with “Heya”, where syncopated percussion mimics the spontaneity of dogs sprinting along the shoreline. The sound design leans into organic textures, with shakers, soft claps, and randomized hi-hat patterns bringing a live, unpredictable feel. “Regarder la nuit” invites a turn toward the cosmic, featuring Pépite on ethereal vocals that glide over ambient layers and shimmering upper harmonics. The production utilizes stereo imaging and granular delay to create the illusion of stargazing—vast, infinite, and alive with subtle motion. With “Lost in Bisca”, Romain leans into exploratory sequencing, marrying deep house grooves with wandering melodic lines that pan across the spectrum to simulate the feeling of moving through forests and sand dunes. The mid-tempo rhythm, accentuated by a resonant kick and filtered toms, invites immersion and drift. “Tokyo Mafia” shifts gears into hallucinatory territory, using distorted leads, pitch-shifted samples, and off-kilter percussion to bend reality into a dreamlike trance. Its production layers are mixed to blur edges, creating a sense of being submerged in a nocturnal mirage. “Desire”, featuring Mondingo, introduces a duality—bright, sunlit chords on the surface, but an undercurrent of longing in the minor key harmonies and breathy vocal treatments. The track’s meticulous sidechain and dynamic EQing allow each element to breathe, giving the illusion of emotional push-and-pull. “Used To” continues the reflective thread, its bittersweet chord progressions paired with a soft, rolling groove. The use of tape saturation and gently detuned textures lends the track a nostalgic warmth, like the fading memory of fleeting connections. The album closes with “Other World”, a slow-burning masterpiece where all of Romain’s production skills converge—wide stereo pads, patient build-ups, and a careful interplay of melodic motifs that leave the listener suspended between joy and melancholy. The automation of reverb decay and subtle filtering on the final notes give the impression of summer slowly dissolving into memory. “EURÊKA!” is not just a collection of tracks but a cohesive narrative of sonic storytelling, where production values—depth of mix, spatial design, and emotional dynamics—are as essential as the melodies themselves. It’s a record that rewards deep listening, revealing its textures and technical finesse with each replay, and cements Romain Garcia as a producer with both vision and craft. #PureGold Love IT[/content]
