Melodic House & Techno Review: Christian Burns & Little Foot - I Will Follow out on Black Hole Recordings

Christian Burns hasn’t taken his foot off the gas this year, and in the run up to the spiritual (and actual!) successor to his dazzling ‘Love Songs From Suburbia’ LP, nor is he likely to!

That acceleration has already given us the naturally elevating ‘Fall To You’ and the unexpectedly optimistic, against-title-type, ‘Darker Days’.

Now, to pull off a perfect trifecta, he’s brought in Australia’s Little Foot for ‘I Will Follow’ HERE

The song sits at the intersection where vulnerability meets true commitment, capturing the singular tension of that final split-second of hesitation. Lines like “the first fire” and “the last dance” hint at those life-defining, make-or-break moments - it’s really about going with your gut, even when you’re not quite sure how it’s all going to land!

Framing the song musically is Australian producer Dave Winnel (of Armin, Kryder and Tommy Trash collab-ing fame), here under his recently fired-up Little Foot alias. Dave’s production skilfully weaves rich synths, hyper-textured layers, and undulating builds into its enveloping soundscape. Think Ben Böhmer meets Lane 8 meeting RÜFÜS DU SOL and you’re most of the way there!

An evocative musical reminder that sometimes, the only way forward is to grasp the reins of the unknown. ‘I Will Follow’ drops today. Find it here

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"] Christian Burns & Little Foot’s “I Will Follow” is a triumph in progressive house production, representing a perfect fusion of emotional resonance and technical precision. The track immediately captivates with a seamless rhythm, groove, and drive that set an irresistible foundation for any dancefloor. Its pulsating basslines and tight kick drums create a confident and playful groove, while the percussive layers are carefully balanced to maintain energy flow and momentum without overcrowding the mix. The melodic hooks and harmonic layers float above the rhythm with cinematic elegance, giving listeners a sense of both uplift and intimacy, reinforcing the track’s emotive message. Sonically, the track demonstrates exceptional sound design and production quality, with each element occupying a precise space in the stereo field. The use of effects and spatial design enhances transitions, drops, and build-ups, leading to a dynamic range that maintains loudness balance without inducing listener fatigue. The carefully structured arrangement carries originality, with a natural flow that makes its cohesion and storytelling apparent from start to finish. The intro and outro are crafted for seamless DJ integration, offering consistent BPM and easy sync for live sets, while also providing clear cue points and loop potential for extended play. This meticulous production approach ensures the track’s suitability for both club and festival environments, where crowd reaction potential is maximized. At the heart of the track is Christian Burns’ vocal performance, which is delivered with both technical prowess and emotional depth. The lyrics, centered on devotion and overcoming fear, resonate with listeners on a psychological level, enhancing the track’s emotional impact and replay value. Research on music and mental health identifies that emotive electronic music with well-defined harmonic progressions can elevate mood and reduce stress by stimulating dopamine release and promoting flow states (Jäncke, 2019; Chanda & Levitin, 2013). The uplifting and immersive atmosphere of “I Will Follow” aligns perfectly with findings that rhythmic, melodic, and energetic music can improve both cognitive performance and emotional wellbeing, making it an ideal choice for fitness and wellness classes (Clark et al., 2016; Karageorghis & Priest, 2012). The dynamic energy and motivational tone naturally enhance exercise endurance and mindfulness practices, reinforcing the positive biophysiological effects of music on human performance. The track’s creativity, artistic identity, and club readiness are matched by its potential to stimulate both the mind and body. The synergy of driving beats, melodic richness, and immersive production ultimately cultivates joy, connectedness, and emotional release, creating a listening experience that is as therapeutic as it is entertaining. “I Will Follow” is a shining example of how expertly produced electronic music can reach beyond the dancefloor to impact mental health and daily wellness. #PureGold Loveit[/content]
