REVIEW: Josia Loos - Transcendence EP out on Blu Fin records

"As with his promising debuts Trippin' Thru The Tunnel and Heating Machine, Josia Loos returns to BluFin with a beautifully crafted and fundamentally conceptual release entitled Transcendence. starting with Shifting Reality, we're immediately drawn into Josia Loos' world of distorted riffs, percussive echoes and mangled electronic whispers.

While staying firmly anchored within the techno genre, this LP reaches out beyond the bodily realm of dance music, tricking the mind into a world between dream and reality.

Finally, great acts like Spektre, Robert Babicz and Moog Conspiracy add their own twist to this lucid dream, thus touching a soft spot in every type of techno-lover."

Dimitri Kechagias review: Blu Fin records is 10 years in the techno scene and is considered as one of the labels that keeps the flag high without selling out to the sirens of easy success. Blu Fin is mainly underground imprint of high class and integrity recognised all over the world. Josia Loos is back in 2015 with his Trancendense EP that will become favourite for many techno heads out there for various reasons. His latest EP includes distinctive progressive techno anthems that flirt beautifully with melodies and trancy influences. With psychedelic rock undertones and 70's flower power mentality Trancendense is here to break the boundaries and contest what is techno? Firstly Shifting Reality is a magnificent anthem that starts with cinematic ambient intro and then moves into the main section of techno tribal grooves, driving deep basslines, haunting atmosphere and psychedelic rock infused synthy themes that recall bands like Pink Floyd. Trancendence 1 is dark hypnotic moody melodic techno banger with pounding drums, metallic driving basslines, haunting chaotic strings, melodramatic themes  combined with break beat sequence to relax the senses followed by mysterious dreamy breakdown and concludes with pounding drums, sharp basslines and some melodic hints. Trancendense 2 is a deeper minimal progressive techno anthem with minimal grooves, deep techno basslines, vocal samples and industrial dark synthy themes. Progressive techno with fluorescent colours that many psy trance djs can easily adopt in their sets. Meet the Messiah starts with breakbeat abstract into and then goes full on dark techno with punchy grooves, pulsating basslines and industrial synths. The track has spiritual edges and is more melodic and spaced out than the previous track. Its one of those tracks that you close your eyes and you loose yourself in its mysterious melancholic lonely soundscapes. More Than This / Closer is included in its original form and with additional 2 remixes. The original is melodic progressive techno with relentless groove and wonderful dark themes that come together to warm the proceeding and hypnotise the listener who will surrender its senses and run into its magical kingdom. Spektre remix starts with brief ambient intro and then moves to a harder main section with metallic thick and pounding basslines while on top the melodic themes add filmic influences and create the final impressive sonic scenery. Robert Babicz version goes towards the classic techno roots with danceable minimal grooves, pounding bassline and melancholic moody synths and strings that add that vintage romantic edge to the final outcome.  Finally Moog Conspiracy transform the original into a pounding aggressive tech house smasher that is darker, moody, cold, and depressive as well. Transendence EP has great concept underneath it that holds the various tracks together as they attempt to tell collectively an interesting story of innovation, experimentation and artistic freedom to create his own vision. 100% Techno Masterpiece. Love IT
