  • In Pursuit Of Repetitive Beats - VR Experience (Exclusive Preview)
Presented by ADE and IDFA DocLab

In Pursuit Of Repetitive Beats is an interactive virtual reality experience by award-winning filmmaker Darren Emerson, inviting audiences to go in search of an illegal rave, one night in Coventry in 1989.

From poster-strewn bedrooms to pirate radio stations, police headquarters to secret warehouses, you’ll step-into the shoes of rave culture pioneers as you go in search of the party.

Witness this social phenomenon first-hand, in an immersive exhibition and explorable virtual world set at the end of a turbulent decade in the UK.

In Pursuit of Repetitive Beats brings to life the stories of the promoters, police officers, and rave-goers, whose rivalries and relationships drove a revolution in music and society.

Book your ticket back to 1989 to share in an experience that shaped a generation; to feel the anticipation, the trepidation, the excitement, and the euphoria, that was Acid House.

Wallace Collins (Entertainment Attorney), Gee Davy (COO, AIM), Richard James Burgess (CEO, A2IM), Silvia Montello (DJ, Stormbabies), Tracy Chan (VP Creator, Soundcloud), Helen Smith (Executive Chair, IMPALA)

While we rarely hear most artists singing the praises of streaming services, conditions are slowly improving. Fan-Powered Royalties, first introduced by Soundcloud, were adopted by Warner Music this summer, plus Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music Unlimited are obliged to pay sunstantially more to music publishers and songwriters in the US. Our experts will be examining ways in which streaming services should be getting better in the short term, what else can be done to help artists who need all the assistance they can get post-COVID, and what the streaming landscape could and should look like in the not-so-distant future.

  • Short Cuts: Why Good, Fast Data Is Key for Electronic Labels & Publishers

Chloe Johnson (Chief Client Officer, Verifi Media)

Data is key in the music industry, governing not only discoverability but also who gets paid and how quickly. Maintaining high-quality data seems simple but can be quite complicated, especially for electronic music where remixes and sampling add complexity to a recording’s rights-ownership. How do we ensure that the best data gets from the point of creation to DSPs at the speed of digital? How do we ensure that recording and publishing data is matched in a way that allows them to speak to each other? And how can we provide better tools and safeguards to get proper royalties to artists quickly while minimizing unmatched revenue? This presentation will seek to answer those questions, providing concrete steps that labels and publishers can take today to benefit their creators.
