Dutchman Robert Nickson reserves his RNX alias for his lower bpm productions; such as the 126bpm Original Mix of the Pure Trance 4 gleaned ‘Colorado’ - which kicks off this package. Firstly it’s a beautifully spacious, melodically intricate piece of lush pure trance music; the main synth hook is wonderful as expected from a producer of Nickson’s calibre, but musicologists will also love the ‘great middle bit’ (not a technical term!) where the track takes a diversion into deeper territory – something quite unusual in a trance record these days perhaps. For his Pure Trance 4 version, Solarstone ‘reconstructed’ the track into something more befitting his Dj sets, raising the tempo to 136bpm, recreating the rhythm & bass tracks and reprogramming the focus of the arrangement on the main hook. Pure class.
