The Big Debate, moderated by Dave Clarke, will bring some of the sharpest and most independent minds together at De Brakke Grond.
For the first time ever, ADE will host an opening debate on the Tuesday night before the madness starts. Moderator Dave Clarke and his renowned international guests will be discussing the big issues currently concerning the music industry.
Dave Clarke to moderate
The Big Debate will bring together some of the sharpest and most independent minds within our industry for the opening panel of the 20th anniversary of ADE. Moderator Dave Clarke (GB) will be asking them to comment on some of the many important issues from the last year that have shaped our world, and also try to find out where they think the music business and the electronic scene are heading.
Topics
Topics already tabled include whether or not SFX's one-stop approach is a winning idea, and what ramifications it will have for the industry, especially since its share price has tumbled so dramatically. The panelists will also be attempting to determine why DJ's wave their hands more than they used to, and whether or not you need talent these days, or just social media and a solid marketing team. Other issues such as whether the new Facebook 'dislike' button will cause distress for upcoming talent and the positives aspects of an EDM scene that can now be described as 'mature' will be under the microscope.
Panel discussion & debate
Our panelists will also be discussing the benefits of living in an 'always on, always connected' world to today's artists. The panel will also be taking questions from the floor, so expect a lively debate that will no doubt continue during the ADE welcome drinks directly afterwards. The panel, which features Liz Miller (Beatport, US), Ben Turner (IMS, GB), Eelko van Kooten (Spinnin’, NL), and Sjoerd Wynia (Celebrate Safe, NL) and more panelists to be confirmed, is also open to anyone who wants to join in.
