REVIEW: FKN - Triton EP out on Vandit records

He’s been away for a while, but be in no doubt, in 2014 Norwegian producer Frode Kambo Nilsen is striking back. Having graced floors with tracks like ‘Why’ feat. Jahala on VANDIT Records back in 2007, ‘This Is The Only Time’, ‘Alone’ and ‘How Long’ (his Aly & Fila collaboration), FKN’s rhapsodic productions have been champed by a galaxy of world-class spinners. With the track-stacked ‘Triton EP’, his VANDIT return brings to the fore three new floor-flaming tracks.

The EP lifts off in trance-progressive style with cool percussion laden grooves and savannah-esque sub-harmonies of title track ‘Triton’. Not to be rushed, Nilsen stretches the track out epically over nine awe-inspiring minutes, filling each and every one with powerful sonorous sounds and FX. Performing a hard trip of the endorphin switch, post-break it jumps the tracks with a big room vroom of a mainline!
‘Stormtrooper’ rolls out hard-grooving drum & percussion loops, exerting instant pressure on the floor. Galvanizing its production with super-heated synths and a veritable swarm of atmosphere capturing sub-melodies & radio-chatter vocals, it pans out into a stunning Mediterranean-facing sun-down/sun-up trancer.

Signing ‘Triton’ off, ‘Inspire’ sees has the EP reaching yet greater melodic elevations. Putting the ‘super’ into ‘superstring’, it’s flush with luminous, breath stealing violins, harp and guitar lines. Prescribed listening for those of a melodic/euphoric persuasion, the ‘Triton EP’ is fully fuelled and ready for blast off!

Dimitri Kechagias review: When you notice great trance artists from the past coming back with brand new releases it means that trance music is back for good.  Vandit records headed from the pioneer producer, dj & radio host Paul van Dyk presents the must have EP by FKN called Triton and includes 3 super powerful trance tracks with that classic Vandit records sound reshaped and reworked for 2014. First of all is the title track Triton that is an epic progressive trancer of the highest quality. Tough chunky groovy techy beats, bouncy energetic driving electrified basslines and stunning breakdown with huge synths that will recall trance glorious moments from the past. The main section is rough, furious but with the lovely synthy theme on top to keep those hands in the air. Inspire is the 2nd magnificent track and as you can easily imagine from its title is an inspiring production with sweet dreamy melodic themes upon the driving deep basslines and the pumping progressive trance beats. Its the right moment in the breakdown to close your eyes and enjoy those hair raising synths working their way and elevating your senses higher without second thoughts. Your imagination is free for an emotional sensitive ride that will be impossible to resist. This Is What I Call Progressive Trance. It's real, pure and absolutely to the point production. Last but not least Stormtrooper is the more upfront of the three tracks with phat, tough and playful twisted basslines, heavy slamming kickdrums and superb breakdown with ambient melodies and colourful luscious synths. The climax is moving on the progressive trance side with techy influences and surprising moments that energise you and keep you occupied in the middle of the dancefloor! 3 unforgettable must play Vandit records moments! Love iT
