REVIEW: Lunar Eclipse - Purple / Violet out on Unearthed Subliminal

1-Purple (Original Mix)
2-Violet (Original Mix)
3-Violet (Daniel Hairston Remix)
4-Violet (Sunsvision Remix)

Next up on Unearthed Subliminal is a rather groovy two track EP from Lunar Eclipse. Purple is the first track up on the EP and is definitely the darker of the pair. With a grungy bassline, sharp detuned synths and a haunting melody, Purple really packs a punch.

Violet is the flip side of the EP and is perhaps the more melodic of the two tracks with a more uplifting chord progression, whilst still utilising several detuned lead synths and an addictive bassline.

Daniel Hairston has picked up remix duties on Violet, offering an even darker, more twisted version. Hairston's evil bassline drives the track forwards, whilst arpeggios feather in over some chunky percussion constantly building the track up into a frenzy.

Sunsvision complete the release with his remix of Violet. Offering a more clubby interpretation, they retain the progressive trance roots of the original, whilst adding a stabby lead synth to utilitse the underlying uplifting chords.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Unearthed Subliminal welcomes 2012 with a massive EP by Lunar Eclipse. If you like melodic progressive trance with house, electro and tech influences this great EP has it all for you. Firstly Purple in its original form is an energetic deep progressive trancer  with electroish basslines and massive melodic lead in the breakdown that I must say stands out from other releases. That lead is the perfect vehicle for the track to explode in the main electro trance meets big room trance part.  Its the kind of track that when it finishes off you remember it with very positive feelings and you are really impressed as well.  On the other hand Violet as the name suggests is a more laid back, groovy prog trancer that can serve you as a strong contender for the warm up part. Of course the remixers come on board to take the original ideas to the next level with thumps up for  Sunsvision who delivers an epic prog trancer that has all the potential to be on the list of your peak time weapons in a prog trance set.  The breakdown is packed with strong thick melodic riff that blows your mind completely. Daniel is on great shape as well as he goes for his playful pumpy dirty chunky style that we like and expect from him. Pure class on all versions. Love iT!
