Best of 2021 Interview with Simon Fava

‚Let there be house‘– means more than 4 words! It stands for one of the most legendary events in the heart of the Rhein-Main-Region. Simon Fava knows how to mix on the turntables at the ‘Midnight Circus’ in Darmstadt’s Orange Club, guaranteeing unforgettable moments on the dance floor, together with his renowned dj colleagues such as Tom Wax, Ian Oliver or Dabruck & Klein. Inspiring vocals, fresh beats and impulsive rhythms are Simon Fava’s ingredients for an exciting new set.

Born in the near of Frankfurt, Simon loves to play in its well-known clubs like the Velvet, 101, Odeon and the Monza and has a fable for balearic beats freshly imported from Ibiza. Big City Beats notice that and as a result Simon Fava’s sets were played on this famous radio show.

In 2012, Simon Fava produced ‘Adir Adirim’ and signed his first contract with the major label SUPERSTAR RECORDS. The breakthrough starts with the first releases at TIGER RECORDS in 2014. With the release of Magalenha his sounds become an integral part in sets of artists like Hardwell, Fatboy Slim, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, Diplo, Avicii, Breathe Carolina, Dannic, Michael Calfan, Fedde Le Grand, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Blasterjaxx, Sam Feldt, David Guetta, Afrojack, Bob Sinclar, NERVO, Joe Stone, Pep & Rash, Benny Benassi, Daddy's Groove, Robbie Rivera, Feenixpawl, Nicola Fasano and many more…

In 2018, Simon strikes back with the next latin house banger LA GOTA FRIA with FEDERICO SCAVO at Enourmes Tunes, which was a huge success beside TAGOMAGO which was the penultimate release at legendary SOSUMI records of Kryder. In 2019, Simon continues with huge releases at new No. 1 House Label Tactical Records and – of course – again on famous Enormous Tunes.

While he let off steam with lots of groovy Latin house vibes on Enormous Tunes and Tactical Records in 2019, he will be back in 2020 with an extensive range of the finest electronic house music. Underground techhouse beats, meet Ibiza House, up to commercial tracks like SWAY (Mucho Mambo), which in 2020 will bring various top 10 chart positions worldwide in the dance genre. In addition to the very successful productions, this year he will become an integral part of the KONTOR RECORDS DJ DELIVERY SERVICE and convince a thousand-fold audience with his beats. The crowning glory of the year is a Techhouse remix of "La Candela Viva", which was released in 2016, on the German number 1 dance label.

The appearances in the largest streaming format of the German DJ scene were the starting shot for an extremely successful year 2021. With BAILAR RIDDIM, VAGABUNDOS and CUBAN RIDDIM, Simon is listed on all major playlists worldwide. BAILAR RIDDIM is one of the summer hits of 2021 and reaches number 1 in the dance charts in several countries. More than 3 MILLION streams this year on Spotify alone underline the success.  Dimitris: Your biggest music career achievements in 2021:

Simon Fava: Bailar Riddim was a worldwide summer hit with millions of streams and listed on top in a lot of dance charts. Also I founded and started with my own record label!

Dimitris: 2021 was the second year with Covid-19 worldwide pandemic! In what ways has affected you (a)as an artist in your art and profession & (b)any obstacles or opportunities you may discover during this year because of Covid-19

Simon Fava: I hardly had any gigs, but I used the time to produce. That was very successful and I also had more time for the family.

Dimitris: Do you believe that vaccines against Covid-19 should be mandatory? Do you agree with the Covid pass system that has been used widely in clubs and festivals

Simon Fava: That is difficult to answer. I'm a DJ and music producer and not a medical professional. I definitely wish that we can celebrate together again.

Dimitris: Are you satisfied from the financial aid that firstly the arts & culture sector including music industry got from your government and secondly yourself as an artist in order to recoup some of the losses caused from the pandemic?

Simon Fava: While I trust the medical professionals, I´m more disappointed by the politics. Unfortunately, many artists from our branch received no really support and were simply forgotten ...

Dimitris: Do you feel that the pandemic has raised or decreased the artistic value and integrity of the electronic dance music musicians including DJs and producers?

Simon Fava: The artists who only live from live performances naturally had a harder time than producers who were also able to offer content in the pandemic

Dimitris: During this year many clubs were closed and festivals canceled. What is your opinion about the trend to move electronic dance music activity solely online with DJ set streamed or with virtual festivals? Can ever virtual replace the physical human contact?

Simon Fava: NO - NEVER!
