ADE 2016: Get your Gear on at ADE Playground


The world’s leading proponents of technical innovation and progressive thinkers in musical making will be displaying, showcasing and talking about the latest in musical performance and production gear.

After recent announcements about the newly announced in-stores and pop-ups and the Morning Raves we continue with another Playground announcement. Gear freaks can start preparing, there will more companies than ever before. Music giants Roland, Ableton, Native Instruments, Pioneer, MOOG and more, will be at this year’s ADE offering unique insight into the latest gear. Here are some the highlights for the more technologically-minded enthusiasts out there:

Native Sessions 
The global series of discussions and workshops centred around Native Instrument’s range of music making and performance goods returns to ADE for its second year. Set up in De Brakke Grond from Thursday through to Saturday, the panel highlights this year include an intimate chat with Mala, production tutorials for the MASCHINE JAM, an overview on Trakor’s legacy and an insightful chat into Sonic Hooks.

Roland Masterclass Series 
This year, the leading manufacturer of musical instruments will be displaying their latest wares in the Compagnietheater, while also hosting a Modular Market from Thursday until Sunday. In addition to this, there will be a series of Masterclass sessions in which leading global based artists discuss their relationship with Roland gear, while showcasing the latest DJ-808 DJ Controller. To date, Nacho Marco, Dave Clarke and The Whooligan are all confirmed for the series, with more names to follow.

Pioneer DJ for Live Sets and Sessions 
In addition to the showroom occupying De Brakke Grond, Pioneer DJ have teamed up with some of dance music’s more innovative faces to curate a series of performance based sessions featuring Nicky Romero, Chuckie and Secondcity. Along with this, Pioneer DJ will be hosting a one-off special in the Compagnietheater bringing together synth-legend Dave Smith and KiNK to talk about the development of the TORAIZ SP-16 live sampler.

Gear Test Lab 
De Brakke Grond will have a special room dedicated to getting to grips with the latest musical goods. The Gear Test Lab will be hosting the latest range of products by Denon DJ, Amptec and PreSonus, while Shutterstock Music, Splice, Bax-Shop and Abbey Road Music will have representatives at hand to discuss their array of services and how they can serve you better.

Modular Maze 
ADE Sound Lab has set up a series of showcases and markets for modular wizardry over in the Compagnietheater, featuring Bastl Instruments, Birdkids, Erica Synths, Liine and their latest partner Endorphin.es, ALEX4, Livestock Electronics, MFBerlin, Verbos, Neo and Formonium. The maze encourages users to come and get a hands-on experience while speaking to some of the people that have shaped the technology, and is one of the very few opportunities where users can access so many modular companies all in one, centralized location.
