REVIEW: Yotto - The Owls out on Anjunadeep

One of 2016’s breakout stars, Helsinki’s Yotto (aka Otto Yliperttula) returns to Anjunadeep with the first of three Twin Peaks inspired singles.

Having notched up his third ‘Essential New Tune’ on BBC Radio 1 with ‘Aviate’ back in April, Otto now delivers another epic slice of melodic house music, ‘The Owls’.

Building from a dark brooding groove into an infectious riff, ‘The Owls’ showcases Yotto’s skill for combining nuanced melodies with raw powerful dancefloor moments. Soaring synths cascade alongside deft strings and driving percussion towards a grand crescendo of emotional chords and resonant low-end stabs.

‘The Owls’ encapsulates the trademark sound Yotto has developed over the past 18 months, at once both uplifiting and dark, earning support from Pete Tong, Kölsch, Dusky, Laurent Garnier, Guy Gerber, Gorgon City and Thugfucker along the way.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Yotto has become one of the most watched out for producer and his latest single on Anjunadeep is another great example of what he is able to achieve when he composes highly original emotional deep progressive house sounds that recall the big progressive house classics by legends like Sasha and John Digweed. The Owls is a late night journey of travelling emotional haunting basslines, rolling tribalish drums, distant little guitar riffs in the background and wide variety of synthy plucks along with heavenly voices and cinematic sensibility.  The main synthy theme that drives the track forward will make the crowd dance as it is extremely infectious and addiction is certain without doubts. If you like to close your eyes, open your ears and follow the music without thinking how to get your next selfie on the dancefloor I believe The Owls is simply just for you. #PureClass #PureGold Love iT[/content]
