REVIEW: Various Artists - Anjunadeep Explorations 01 out on Anjunadeep

2015 was a landmark year for Anjunadeep, seeing the label celebrate its 10th anniversary with another #1 iTunes Dance compilation, along with sell out events and festival stages across the world.

The London based imprint kick off 2016 with something new – a various artists EP series called ‘Explorations’, showcasing four artists making their label debuts. Edinburgh’s Theo Kottis is quickly making a name for himself with his residency at the legendary Sub Club, and recent releases on Moda Black. His contribution ‘Into The Wild’ is a melodic roller, packed with cinematic atmosphere.

Wild Dark, regulars at New York’s legendary Verboten club, bring a touch of indie electronica in ‘Falling Deep’, featuring their own vocals. On peak-time duty is Heliotype with ‘Catching Fire’, reminiscent of past Anjunadeep releases from Dusky and Leftwing & Kody.

Closing the EP is newcomer Aiiso. Having found success under various alter egos in the past, Aiiso now delves into mellow terrain with the trancey ‘Point Of Return’, the perfect afterparty soundtrack.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Anjunadeep is a label that never miss the point to bring closer together four magnificent talents and let them communicate with their audience. The Explorations EP 1 includes talents that we  will see rising in the deep house/ tech house territory. Firstly is the emotionally magnificent Into The Wild by Theo Kottis. Deep melodic electronic sweet house production with tribal percussion, pulsating wobbly basslines, haunting mysterious strings, laidback grooves and beautiful cinematic spoken vocal samples that add to the wonderful atmosphere and elevate the whole production to a higher level. Wild Dark come next with Falling Deep which is definitely another slice of modern futuristic melodic electronica that can make the difference and travel your spirit to beautiful places and mysterious spaces. Organic elements that add the live like instrumentation with wide variety of cinematic sounds  and fantastic vocals that sound dark, moody and certainly out of the ordinary. Heliotype deliver the track Catchfire that adopts old school early 90's metallic raw basslines, techy bouncy thrusting grooves and superb strings with heavenly voices floating and flowing around. Particularly the breakdown is truly magical and cinematic with that spacey cosmic Anjunadeep feel to it. Lastly is Aiiso with the beauty Point Of Return. Laid back grooves, deep smooth basslines, warm electronic melodies, cinematic strings and great sound design with that three dimensional feel that allow you to discover and hear variety of sounds and themes every single time you hear it. Let the magic happens in your heart! #PureGold 10/10 Love It
