Receiving overwhelmingly positive support from DJs and fans alike for his Anjunabeats debut earlier in the summer, Scotland's Graeme Shepherd aka Grum continues to shine on the world stage for his forward-thinking take on contemporary progressive trance.
Finding favour with genre tastemakers Annie Mac, Pete Tong and Danny Howard with his 'Trine EP' (while courting the attention of international heavyweights Armin Van Buuren, Steve Angello and Porter Robinson in the process), 2015 has seen Grum fine-tune his sound around the world, including performances at Brixton Academy and several dates at the legendary Cream Amnesia.
Arguably his most energetic track to date, 'Something About You' is a classy electronic anthem; the rolling bassline groove and classy nostalgic riff combining for a full throttle dancefloor release. Off-setting the high energy vibes of 'Something About You' is the more reflective flip-side, 'First Contact’. An inspired piece of production with Grum's signature timeless feel, ’Something About You’ completes another classy Anjuna outing from one of the label’s brightest stars.
Signing off the summer in style, Grum joins Above & Beyond for their radio show Group Therapy 150, broadcasting worldwide from the sold out AllPhones Arena in Sydney this September.
Dimitri Kechagias review: The exquisite artist Grum is back on Anjunabeats with an outstanding EP. The first track Something About You is an exceptional slice of modern futuristic prog house meets trance style track. With electroish basslines, punchy techy groove, hi-nrg synthy layers and superb distorted pitched down and normal vocal samples. The main synthy melodic theme is truly hypnotic and you will find very soon even if you resist that at the end you will surrender in the aura of this very state of the art anthemic progressive beauty. It's really infectious and ready to bring hysteria and crowds shouting on the dancefloor for more of the same. This is new style that Grum firstly introduces and I feel that he actually is an innovator in the scene as he is not afraid to experiment and bridge the progressive division between house and trance. Second track on this top EP is First Contact that starts with cool intro and moves into a very spacey main section with punchy basslines, deep bubbly grooves and epic synthy theme that is introduced in the breakdown and leads the track to its tripping out warm and safe climax. It sounds perfect as warm track with certain fly away tendencies. #PureClass #PureGold Love It
