REVIEW: John Dopping - Words In Colour / Basically out on Borderline Music

John Dopping is arguably one of the most intelligent trance producers on the planet. The intricacies and quality of his production and most of all his writing are quite literally second to none. Classically trained, as were sure can be heard in his melodies, John is always putting 200 percent into his music and we are happy that he returns to Borderline with a brand new EP.

Some of you may have heard rumblings on the grapevine but we are happy to now confirm that 2014 will see the release of Johns first solo artist album entitled Words In Colour and this EP showcases both John's talents and the album itself.

Expect to see much more of the man that is Dopping in the next year as he starts to carve out his own unique sound within trance and give us all a break from the norm.

This EP and his album crosses over between more traditional melodic trance and the darker more underground psy world and both Words In Colour (the single) and Basically show this perfectly

Its time to take note, John Dopping is making his mark!

Dimitri Kechagias  review:  The top trance record label Borderline Music that is now part of the Black Hole recordings family of labels presents the exciting new release by John Dopping that includes the tracks Words In Colour and Basically. Words In Colour is a solid neo psy trance meets uplifting trance hybrid that will satisfy both camps equally. Tough techy beats, razorsharp driving basslines, playful composition with wide variety of sound layers, sound effects, vocal samples and overall futuristic approach that really impress the ear.The breakdown is really mysterious with melodic layers and heavenly like choir voices. The climax is really unique as it builds further the various clean cut synthy melodies that bring to your mind great syntesizer composers with psy trance foundation and acid overtones. Hypnotic, dreamy and what it meant to be trance is what you get on this very colourful trance smasher. The 2nd gem is called Basically and  continues on the same futuristic neo modern trance style. The beats are groovy and bouncy, the bassline is deep and driving with chopped vocal samples while the great colourful synths on top create that magical hypnotic atmosphere that only trance music can deliver on any dancefloor. He adds even the very cool balearic style chord progression that seems to work in harmony with the rest of the calming synths. Both tracks are 138 BPM but sound really laid back and floating compositions. They are all about the melodic content and less for the massive euphoric synths that blow speakers! Love IT
