REVIEW: Acid Test - The Laboratory out on Monster Force

Boshing MT sub label Monster Force returns for 2014 with a vengeance and what better way to kick off the new incarnation of the label than a dark banger by local lads Acid Test. After seeing their classically styled uplifting trancer ‘Accentuate’ supported by trance legends Paul van Dyk, Solarstone, plus everyone’s favourite Egyptian duo, Aly & Fila amongst others, Acid Test return with something much, much darker!

Exclusively featured in Jordan Suckley’s BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, ‘The Laboratory’ is a dark and twisted tech fuelled monster of a tune. Perched on a ledge of chunky beats and throbbing basslines, this mother of a production is swarming with tech stabs galore and darkened quirky FX. The breakdown is where the real action happens with a slamming breakbeat section featuring an animated ethnic vocal, that gives way to a killer tech stab drop as it comes back in.

This one could have only been made in ‘The Laboratory’.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Monster Tunes sublabel Monster Force returns with new releases and new artwork as well. Acid Test is back after his first anthem Accentuate on Monster Digital with his powerful modern tech meets psy trance anthem The Laboratory. It is not difficult to understand why there is such a buzz around this magnificent  production. First of all we must warn all those who search for fluffy lighthearted tracks that The Laboratory is not for them and the access to it we should be strictly prohibited. In contrast to all those who like their trance underground, filthy, greedy, dark and dangerous The Laboratory caters especially for their eclectic taste. Tough banging elephant size feet beats, rough and raw energetic basslines that drive the track to its unknown territory with loads of acid layers on top that build and build until to land on the long breakdown that its main element is that gigantic breakbeats section that works like a treat with the ethnic exotic Indian female vocal on top that adds that sense of danger, despair maybe and spirituality as well. The climax is ready to smash the loudspeakers and bring mayhem on any dancefloor that will be dropped intentionally or by accident. Hands in the air and ready for heavy work on the dancefloor. You are locked in a laboratory I'm afraid and any resistance is futile. Have FUN! Love IT
