Born in 1982 in Germany. At a early age Gabriela was always walking around with her Walkman, playing recorded tapes with rare and obscure material. Always in love with the music. When she was at a age of 19 she take her stuff and moved from Berlin to the Netherlands. A couple years later she met some wheels of steel, and that was the beginning of her music career. Her techno tracks always have a nice funky groove, combined with some nice warm, deep melodies. With a strong eye for detail, her deep grooves are surely going to make you move.
Her first release on TAKT is a combination of deep groovy techno in "Low Go" and of a smashing techno track with a great mellow in "Consealed". The remix of Cologne based Tim Schroeder completes the package with a more hypnotic version of "Consealed".
Watch this lady! Because she is going to move your feet!
Dimitri Kechagias review: Girls love techno and definitely its not just boy's thing. The fantastic dj & producer Gabriel Penn reveals her latest EP on Takt records and if you feel comfortable with techno that has very interesting melodic themes in it just don't miss this EP. The original mix of Consealed is a banging driving relentless building production with excellent groove and dark mysterious melody that runs through the whole track and creates a sense of threat and insecurity. Dark throbbing techno to blow your speakers and show you the underground way of life. Tim Schroeder does something really special with it as it transforms the rough original into a deep electro meets techno type of track. It sounds more minimal, deep, hypnotic and really creative as well. Cool vocal samples, superb basslines and chunky groovy beats plus the dark and sinister like siren style synthy theme is added to build the tension that the dancefloor demands. Low Go in its original form is an old school tribal techno cracker that evolves and dissolves its various sound layers in a such playful way that keep you interested. The old school melody of those rave style keys will definitely wake up memories. Get ready with your techno shoes and let it burn. Gabriela rocks! Love IT
