As social networking and blogging continue to revolutionise today’s media landscape, and as a consequence record companies, managers and even agents mutate ever more into marketing machines, where does this leave the professionals previously in the middle - the PRs?

Wiki defines PR as ‘the practice of managing the spread of information between an individual or an organization and the public’ while its founding father Edward Bernays labelled it ‘the conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses’ (in in his 1928 book, Propaganda). So how do you manipulate the masses in an era of Twitter feeds and viral videos and how do you make money when clients can apparently control their own public images, cutting out costs and dealing direct?

ADE will be assembling a panel of top PR executives to explain how they and the industry operate today, including insights on the dark arts of spin and news manipulation. Our experts will also be tackling the key PR question ‘is there really no such thing as bad publicity?’
