REVIEW: BT - Skylarking (Remixes) out on Armada Singles / Armada Music

1.Skylarking (Ilan Bluestone Remix)
2.Skylarking (Maor Levi Remix)

A tune that continues to surprise, no matter how many times you’ve had it stuck on replay. BT’s ‘Skylarking’ keeps revealing new faces, shades and sparks. Through the official remix pack, UK’s Ilan Bluestone and Israel’s Maor Levi introduce you to their interpretation of this future BT classic.

Still intriguing, fascinating and continuing to haunt our minds, was the pre-taste of BT’s upcoming artist album. Set for release in the summer of 2013, dance land eagerly awaits another promising long-player of the technology wizard that is BT. For the remix pack, he invited the rising talents of Maor Levi and Ilan Bluestone.

Already gaining the support of Tiësto, Above & Beyond, Armin van Buuren and more, London based producer Ilan Bluestone added his own mark of up-beat prog-house. A slick, playful remix that maintained the warm melodies of &lsquo ;Skylarking’. Maor Levi, not shy of a little experimenting, smashed ‘Skylarking’ into a million pieces, gluing them together with a playful mix of break-beat, electro and more!

The official music video for 'Skylarking' is featuring breathtaking time lapse photography of the Alaskan Aurora, the video pristinely captures the essence of searching the sky for meaning, wonder and beauty. Also known as the Northern Lights, the Aurora Borealis appear to glide and shimmer to the beat of 'Skylarking,' bringing the spiritual experience to life through music.

Directed by Christopher Andrew, this film is the journey of a three man camera crew into the freezing cold outside of Fairbanks, Alaska. For 10 nights, the team shot from sundown to sunrise, in temperatures reaching -29℉, all to capture the greatest psychedelic light show that nature has to offer. 1.5 TB of footage was then scored to the original mix of 'Skylarking' and edited down for the six minute music video. Dimitri Kechagias review:  One of the finest electronic dance music masterpieces that we can loosely call as trance is of course BT seminal track Skylarking. Its one of those tracks that manage to carry your soul away to faraway places with unforgetable melodic themes and superb sound design of the highest calibre. The original mix of Skylarking was perfect for huge club sound systems but also caters for the home listeners who can plug their headphones and travel to faraway places without even leaving their chair. The big modern in the making classic returns with two version that cater especially for the djs outhere who wanted faster, phatter and bangier versions to incorporate in their sets and let their audience experience that unforgettable riff. The finest producers are on heavy remix duties and it seems that they did their best to come up with fantastic versions. First of all the upcoming and quickly moving all the way to the top Ilan Bluestone service the extremely beautiful and very sweet melodic progressive trance version that will rock the big crowds. Ilan manage to combine the strong melodic themes with his pumping beats and driving basslines and compose the version that any dj in this world was praying to exist and now they finally find it. Versatile and open to translation it can be trance or progressive house according to the surrounding tracks in your sets. Maor Levi is the next big thing and he deserves it cause his tracks and  remixes from early on were inspiring, sparkling and higher than the average copy/paste type of tunes. Maor as the moment is playing on the Big Room/USA EDM style and he has abandon his trancier roots that in my opinion were more adventurous ground for him. Of course Maor Levi productions are shinning stars on any style he chooses to move them. His remix on Skylarking is explosive, in your face, rough and raw to the maximum with great breakdown that allows the main melodic theme to come at the top along with rhythmic claps to encourage the audience to take part actively on it. Then he unleashes the huge euphoric synthy stabs to release the fireworks and then the climax goes booming, maddening, spanking and highly energetic with some chopped vocals samples squeezed and turned around too. Two exceptional versions that will bring Skylarking right at the heart of EDM summer festivals.  Love iT!
