Returning to his 2012 release of “No Substitute For You” featuring the vocals of Betsie Larkin, Bobina unleashes an expanded package of the single, including remixes by Andy Duguid, Tom Fall, Mike Saint-Jules and others.
Bobina a.k.a. Dmitry Almazov, one of only a few deck-practitioners to once be handpicked by Tiësto to support him on his "In Concert" tour, began his career in 2003. He was the first Russian DJ to appear in the DJ Mag Top 100 chart. Bobina has subsequently remixed artists such as The Thrillseekers Supermode (Axwell & Steve Angello), Armin van Buuren and Paul Oakenfold. He was also the helmsman of the 17th volume of the famous In Trance We Trust mix compilation series. After the success of "Quattro 372", Bobina released "The Space Track" and “You Belong To Me”, a production that he also made with Betsie Larkin. “No Substitute For You” is their second collaboration.
Never settling for formulaic vocal trance, Betsie continues to push boundaries. Breaking onto the EDM scene in 2008 with the instant hit “Made of Love” with Ferry Corsten, Betsie has since had an impressive list of collaborations with artists like ATB, Andy Moor, Gabriel & Dresden and many others. “Obvious” with Lange was her last installment, preceded by "The Offering" with Sied van Riel. Once gain teaming up with Bobina for “No Substitute For You”, the New York based female vocalist once again shows her versatility.
The original version of “No Substitute For You”, a heartfelt and energetic vocal trance smash that was the perfect follow up to “You Belong To Me”, has been played to the hilt by nearly every top DJ in the field. The combination of Bobina’s high energy sound with big room and tech influences drew the attention from countless producers whose fingers itched to add their own twist to the song. The end result features in this single package, remixes that will all dominate events the entire season!
Dimitri Kechagias review: The superb high quality vocal trancer No Substitute For You, by the Russian superstar dj/producer and radio host Bobina featuring one of the most sensitive voices in EDM, the exceptional Betsie Larkin, that was a huge success in 2012, returns in 2013 supported with the highest quality remixes that an artist could ask for. Get ready for the extensive package of bright and colourful new versions that will rock the clubs and summer festivals. First of all the very talented Tom Fall from Finland constructs a powerful progressive trancer with elements of epic prog house and nu rave as well. Anthemic and epic with steady dynamic banging beats and solid rocking basslines combined with euphoric synths in order to bring mayhem and uplift the spirit of the clubbers. The Egyptians magicians Fady and Mina deliver the full on uplifting remix with tough and solid as rock beat, bouncy punchy basslines and ethereal melodies on top. The breakdown will push any trance party to its limit with Betsie shinning with her vocals and the euphoric synths coming to the surface to lead the exceptional version to its climax when the hard heavy sounds co-exist with the sweet blissful melodies. The Scottish uber-talent Andy Duguid provide his fantastic version that will stand out in any set that you will play it in the coming months. It starts with ambient intro and moves slowly to the core of the track that is big room progressive trance with harder, than the usual Andy Duguid productions beats, and slamming basslines. His breakdown is dreamy and sweet with opera style vocals and Betsie taking the first role that she deserves of course. Mike Saint-Jules Dark Moon Mix is a superb edgy dark prog trance version with sharp as nails basslines, twisted and greedy sounds combined with the deep and dark tribal prog beats. Of course Mike is a master when it comes to euphoric synths that can crawl under your skin easily and on this remix he offer us an eargasmic sonic experience that will be hard to forget. Particularly his climax will energise your soul instantly. Lastly David Gravell Remix moves on the proglifting trance territory with an excellent balance between big room beats and rough basslines with huge synthy stabs and colorful electronic melodies along with the melodramatic strings of course. The package includes the excellent acapella file too for your remixing tendencies and creative djing moments. Overall is an outstanding set of remixes that all of them are highly recommended and is very hard to pick up a favourite one. Adore IT!
