Andain (Josh Gabriel and Mavie Marcos) has a history of divine electronica, spine-tingling lyrics and considerable patience. The band began in 2000 and after first single “Summer Calling” and follow-up “Beautiful Things” (best known for the Gabriel & Dresden Remix, now a classic, sporting 20 million views on Youtube) their name was launched into instant celebrity.
Andain is currently working on a brand new artist album and already released the successful single "Promises" which appeared on many compilations, and reached #13 in SiriusXM’s BPM Top 51 of 2011. In support of their official album, which is ready for release, the duo now presents the new single "Much Too Much", accompanied by a beautiful video directed by Jamie Redford.
"Much Too Much" is a slow paced, but powerful and deeply emotive track that offers a superb backing track for Mavie's soaring vocals; this time remixed by Relay & Front who drop some serious Liquid Drum ‘n’ Bass on the original, Rido (from Goldie’s Metalheadz stable) and Shreddward & Exceed, who reworked the track into a driving Drumstep version. Dimitri Kechagias review: Andain is one of the finest projects in EDM and of course fans of the project worldwide wait for the official release of the stunning Album that shaped to become one of the best albums for 2012. Much Too Much caught my attention through the beautiful music video that speaks straight to your heart so now that the remix package is available I was curious to check what the great remixers will do with this real jewel. I'm must say that first I was very surprised as I was waiting trance or prog house remixes from the stars of Black Hole recordings. But as it seems the very able A & R team decided to go to the opposite direction and staying true to the original version that is electronica lounge style. So the 3 remixes included belong to the drum n bass category and if you have the chance to check them out you will understand that this choice was the wiser for this particular single. I'm big fan of atmospheric drum n bass and that style can better encapsulate the feeling of this beautiful record that very easily can be included in a huge Hollywood blockbuster movie for sure. Relay & Front remix is a magical drum n bass rendition with great arps and piano riffs for the intro and when the beat enters the proceedings you are simply left speechless as your mind travels with the speed of sound. Superb arrangement with the warm guitar riffs on top I can imagine the licensing requests coming to include it in the next big downtempo compilation. Rido remix continues on the same style but with even lighter beats delivering a soothing relaxing groovy spacey drum n bass beauty. Last but not least Shreddward & Exceed reconfigure the whole track in a rougher dubstep style that works like a treat along with Mavie vocals and the rest of the great instruments. If you search for that bouncier rougher and very creative alternative version this remix will do the business for you. 3 quality surprising unconventional colourful versions that set new standards in EDM.
