REVIEW: Protoculture - Topaz out on Re*Brand/Armada Music

1.Topaz (Original Mix)
2.Topaz (Max Graham Remix)

Up and coming producer Protoculture presents a new gem on the Re*Brand label. ‘Topaz’ washes over with a warm, melodic flow, crawling under your skin in no time. Nate Raubenheimer is going places.

Hailed as one of the must-hear names of 2010 and 2011, heavily supported by the DJ elite and making waves with tracks like ‘Early Bird’, ‘Sun Gone Down’, ‘Liquid Logic’ and his collab remix of ‘Grace - Not Over Yet’. The South African producer has all reason to be in the spotlight.

Each of his releases have that warm, characteristic feel, without lacking a bit of experiment. ‘Topaz’, his new single, fuses deep, synth-driven melody with the energy of prog-trance. A powerful track that’ll put each crowd it meets into a frenzy!

No one less than Re*Brand label owner Max Graham, a great fan of Protoculture’s w ork, took on the remix duties on this jewel. His version of ‘Topaz’ takes you in with heavy bass, deep melody and a lush, dreamy piece of piano play, giving the track that extra silver lining.

Dimitri Kechagias review: I'm definitely one of the biggest fans of Protoculture for several reasons with the most important that his music and tracks in a way have changed the progressive trance sound as we knew it before his advent. His productions and remixes win the listener easily without delays.  Anyone can feel deep inside  that there is a true artist behind them who really had plenty of inspiration to compose them. His style is a mixture of  balearic bubbly trance with strong focus in the ambient atmosphere with influences from names like Chicane for instance. With gifted abilities to balance his  sound design in order to bring the finest result Protoculture delivers his next non vocal prog trancer that is destined to reach the highest positions at the download portals during the Christmas holidays season. Topaz shines from start to finish and you can not stop feel hooked and highly mesmerized from the soundscapes that he invite us all to inhabit. Escape from anything that worries and you feel totally transfered in his mythical world of pure and honest emotions. Its a sound that work in clubs but also for home listening too. Max Graham who is constantly on top of his game provides a stunning remix that is chunkier with tougher basslines perfect for that peak time moment in your progressive trance set. His breakdown includes additional piano melody that hightens even more the emotional power of the main melodic theme. He goes for a full on club experience so be warned that after hearing this nothing will be the same. Massive One! Love IT
