REVIEW: St Black feat. Jonathan Morning 'Sad To Say' on Baroque Limited

St Black, Jonathan Morning - Sad To Say (Original Mix)
St Black, Jonathan Morning - Sad To Say (Jaap Lighthart Remix)
St Black, Jonathan Morning - Sad To Say (Fulvio Perniola Remix)
St Black, Jonathan Morning - Sad To Say (Aargus Remix)

St Black & Jonathan Morning provide something Something Sad To Say, but beautiful to listen to! and with a stunning array of remixes to boot !

The original moves of with a bright & airy groove, moving bassline and the distant floating vocals, pad melody & patches of driven percs build to the breakdown where a bubbly synth line takes over.

Jaap Lightart is first up on remixes.. with a dark & dirty rolling groove & techy bassline taking over. the vocals glide through the dirt, before a proper deep & sinister synth grips hold. relentless & filthy.. our office fave

Fulvio Perniola ( Fathers of Sound ) is next up with another great remix. chunky beats and a growly driving bass, fluttering hooks, combined with the vocals & a bassline melody which follows the vocal makes for an anthemic sounding mix.

Lastly Aargus gives us a truly tribal mix, fat fat drums, groove stabbs & a alcatraz style bass riff all combine as layers of electronic licks, blazing horns & wiry straight synths build to a crescendo, this one is a heads down & lose yourself for 5 mins job

A package bursting with quality

Dimitri Kechagias review: Baroque is a label of top quality and always great releases so you can not expect less on that brand new progressive houser faithful on the progressive house sound as it was known  before the Swedish House invation. Original mix is a bright groovy feelgood and really sexy summery progressive anthem that floats well along with the whispering vocals. Jaap Lighthart version adds a darker mood to the track with tougher basslines and USA tribal house feel to it. Fulvio provides an upbeat version that is stompy, brighter, upbeat, with wonderful addictive rhythm that you want to let yourself free and dance in the middle of the dancefloor. Aargus mix is dark, mysterious, lurring and dangerous to keep you totally and utterly addicted to its excessive powers. Real Pure Progressive house at the hands of Baroque is safe for sure!
