REVIEW: Marten Lou - No One Like You EP out on Warner Germany

Marten Lou relocated to Paris from Germany to focus on music and explore the city's vibrant nightlife and club scene. Now the pioneering electronic producer will release his first EP: 'No One Like You' is his dancefloor-massaging debut for Warner Music.

The German-born DJ, songwriter and producer Marten Lou was already on his unstoppable upward path in 2022 with viral hits ("My Love For You (Yebba's Heartbreak)") and top-class remixes (Robin Schulz/Oliver Tree: "Miss You") great success - and now the 21-year-old is releasing his first EP for Warner Music: No One Like You contains three brand new tracks - available from May 5th!

The lead single "No One Like You" sets the tone for the entire debut EP: With a mixture of catchy melodies, deeply moving build-ups and irresistible dancefloor gold, Marten presents his very own definition of deep/melodic house: "I won't never find no one like you”, sings guest singer Joyia – powerful words of pure longing and desire. While that one line is enough to capture the mood of the track, Marten Lou gives plenty of room for things to unfold and captivate the listener: hints of piano (his first instrument) are offset by shimmering synth rolls and overlaid on towering beats that get everything vibrating instantly. How blurry things move in and out of focus. Rather than resorting to formulaic sharpening, Marten's first release for Warner takes us on an ever-changing, ever-swelling, four-minute journey. With its chilled and at the same time complex flair, the track washes over the listeners, conquers the dancefloor and sets all bodies in motion. Marten Lou co-wrote and produced it with co-songwriter Kassandra Dunes. To express this irresistible sense of longing, the young producer found Canadian singer Joyia ("Water").

The “No One Like You” EP, available May 5th, also includes the brand new tracks “Nothinghill Keys” and “Midnight Drive”.

Inspired by the Parisian lifestyle, Marten Lou (his passport says Marten Lou Schmidt) has actually gotten around a lot lately: He inspired industry giants such as Steve Angello (Swedish House Mafia), Adriatique, Blond:ish, the Berlin DJs &ME, Rampa ( no music) and Robin Schulz. He's rocked clubs in NYC and Boston, London, Toronto, Ibiza and Madrid, Saint-Tropez and Dubai, to name just a few recent stops - aside from his regular nightly gigs in the French capital. And now the extremely talented songwriter (who received his first songwriting award in 2012 at the age of 10) is releasing his first EP statement.

It looks like 2023 is going to be a big year for Marten Lou. (google translation from German)

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]Marten Lou  is a new name in my books that seems to have great future ahead of him.  No One Like You EP is deep melodic driving house tracks with excellent deep basslines, moody synths, dark atmospheres and superb vocals. Three very classy productions that DJs and home listeners will appreciate for their elegance and excellent sound design that simply capture the audience and transfer them to his own sonic delights. #PureGold Love IT[/content]
