REVIEW: Tontario - From Below EP out on Anjunadeep

Having joined the Anjunadeep ranks last year via the label’s Explorations EP series, Finland’s Tontario has gone on to deliver a string of well received releases, including a stunning rework of Ólafur Arnalds’s ‘Öldurót’. Tontario now returns to the label with another set of adventurous downtempo cuts on the four track ‘From Below EP’

The EP opens with the string-laden textures of ‘Löpeld’, before drifting into the floating groove of ‘Rove’ (featuring Benjamin Gustafsson). Next ‘Vilsenhet’ serves up a heavier brooding vibe to the package before rounding off the EP on an ambient note with ‘Worriers’.

[content title="Summary" label="Overall Score"]The Finish talent Tontario is on the rise with stream of classy releases. His latest EP doesn't target the clubs but rather expects to get some space in your chill out listening list and relax your senses with its cool lovable atmosphere. Superb laid back grooves, cinematic strings, floating atmosphere and an open invitation to explore its wall of sounds decorated with superb dark grooves, emotional strings and natural sound samples that always excite the imagination and make us imagine even more when we listen to all of them.  Difficult to choose favourite as all of them contemplate the other and makes this EP the perfect journey that starts with the long classical music infused intro of Löpeld and continues with the slow moving Rove (with Benjamin Gustafsson). Thirdly Vilsenhet continues with atmospheric abstract first part while the second has the tribalish laid back chunky groove. Finally Worriers  is cinematic appraisal that can act as the theme for the closing titles of a movie which is yet to be filmed. #PureGold Love It .[/content]
