REVIEW: Solomon Grey - Miradors (Jody Wisternoff & James Grant Remix) out on Anjunadeep

Fast rising British songwriter duo Joe Wilson & Tom Kingston aka Solomon Grey have become familiar faces on Anjunadeep over the past year, from their much-loved collaborations with Lane 8 - ‘Diamonds’ and ‘Hot As You Want’ - and John Monkman’s Beatport Electronica #1 remix of ‘Twilight’.

They return with ‘Miradors', remixed by Jody Wisternoff and Anjunadeep label boss James Grant. First appearing on their collaborative compilation Anjunadeep 07 earlier this year, James’ and Jody’s remix of ‘Miradors’ beautifully sets Joe Wilson’s swirling vocals alongside languid melodies and a slow-burning bass groove in this hypnotic rework.

I am the lonely child
Decided for the best
I can't deny the fate that's deep inside
Is on my own
I know all things must pass
White horses change the tides
Can I decide to turn away the lies
I left behind

And I do look up
And I see it all needs questioning
I still look back
And I lose myself in memories

I do believe in what they say
No mans an island lost
Can I escape
These visions of the sea
That I have crossed
I see the only light
Disguised a lion heart
Like photographs against the city lights
I blur the lines

And I do look up
And I see it all needs questioning
I still look back
And lose my self in memories
I could be waiting, could be waiting too long
I could be waiting, could be waiting too long

Dimitri Kechagias review: Anjunadeep is officially one of the sweetest and lovely record labels out there. What can you really write and how can you really describe with words the stunning new Solomon Grey single Miradors remixed perfectly by the two legends Jody Wisternoff & James Grant who did their best to follow the vibe of the mysterious and very infectious vocal and elevate it to the next level of human happiness. The track is melancholic and cinematic making you think of the soundtrack of a nice British film about London in 2015. The lyrics are deep, meaningful and resonating to all those who have passed many rivers in their life and are still standing up and strong. Of course the beauty of these lyrics is their ability to mean different things to different people. So reflect your thoughts and dreams on it while the beloved remixes provide the slow deep groove, the lazy dark moody basslines and the awesome cinematic orchestral melodies with big violins and classy eclectic arrangement. Thanks Anjunadeep! #PureGold Love It
