Having studied music and sound for many years, John has always created his music, based around the principles of quality and diversity. His approach is subtle and intricate, creating spell-binding productions that capture the listener's heart and mind.
With early recognition from Discover Records former Head of A & R and Borderline Music founder, Activa - John began working with the label in 2012, and released his groundbreaking debut artist album Words In Colour€™ in 2014.
His vast spectrum of musical influences led to further opportunities to remix for the likes of Paul Oakenfold and DJ Yahel, and opened up avenues to work with labels like Perfecto Fluoro and Beatman & Ludmilla€™s Ayra Recordings.€™ John created his debut breakbeat EP for Ayra entitled ’Shady & Hitch’ which took the coveted number one spot in the breakbeat charts at Beatport.
Other collaboration and remix projects have been with the likes of Magnus, Thomas Datt, Ally Brown and Andrew Candid on labels such as Discover Records, Black Hole Recordings, Digital Society Recordings, Nu-Depth Recordings and Blacked Out Recordings.
After the success of the album, John and his long-standing friend and collaborator Alan Ruddick developed and launched the €˜Research & Development€™ project - a production partnership and live performance duo. It is also the brand behind the Research & Development label, which takes John & Alan€™s shared musical and ethical values, and applies them to releasing true underground music with high standards of creativity and production.
Dopping has recently written an EP of original music for John €™00 Flemings JOOF Recordings (out soon) and performed twice for the much sought after Luminosity in Amsterdam. He has also recently launched the €˜Research & Development Laboratory Radio€™ show on Afterhours.FM.
