REVIEW: SHato & Paul Rockseek ft. Alex Humphreys - Music Gets Us Through incl Niels van Ahorn remix on VANDIT records

'You don't break up a winning team' is the clear & present production ethic of SHato & Paul Rockseek. Bare months after VANDIT's stunning 'Chasing Aeroplanes' release, and completing the hat trick that began with 'Losing Control', the Czech/Slovak pair reteams with English vocalist Alex Humphreys.

The collective's return to the studio has produced a track that's the rarest & most elusive of things: one that's as coolly laidback as it is supremely catchy.

Impressively touching, Alex's imagination capturing lyrics & gifted vocal touch work seamlessly with SHato & Paul's subtlety observed, 'quiet storm' of a production.

Supported atop the restrained syncopation of its tempo and drums and (early Chicane reminiscent) castaway guitar & piano strains, the heartfelt message of Alex's lyrics couldn't be clearer: music transcends all, no matter what.

For those of a clubbier disposition, fear not - your time will come! Floor angling interpretations of 'Music Gets Us Through' are well in process. For now though kick back, think of warmer climes and enjoy the mellow brilliance of SHato, Paul & Alex's original vision.

About SHato & Paul Rockseek: SHato & Paul Rockseek form one of the most successful Czechoslovak EDM projects. Working together since 2010, the young talents SHato (SK) and Paul (CZ) live up to their reputation as masters of mixing new-age trance and progressive house. Signed to Paul van Dyk's VANDIT records and knighted as the monthly residents of the 'VANDIT Knights' radioshow, mentioned in Beatports 'must hear' over and over again, there is no doubt these guys are unstoppable.

With big support from DJs like Paul van Dyk, Above & Beyond, Armin van Buuren, Markus Schulz, Paul Oakenfold and many others, the clever duo is constantly drawing attention with the rising quality of their own music productions. Reaching #01 Beatport's trance chart with 'Crypoint' is just one of their many successes across the global EDM scene. 'Wonderfooled' and 'Deer Friends', which both got top reviews by press, are only two of their 13 releases by now that have been a must play on global dancefloors. SHato and Paul have shown their feeling for catchy ideas and a precise artist touch in many mashups like 'Seek Zara' and 'We Are Mozart's Friends' that immediately became worldwide floorkillers.

With their appearance at Paul van Dyk's We Are One Festival, SHato & Paul Rockseek not only proved they are very talented music producers, but also great DJs. Their energetic sets constantly win the hearts of their fans all over the globe for good.

Dimitri Kechagias review: VANDIT records is back with the duo that is destined to reach really high. With the support from Paul van Dyk the duo SHato & Paul Rockseek are destined for big things. The talent and personality is there and the label with the knowledge to help them realise their aspirations is here too. For the latest release collaborate with the same vocalist  Alex Humphreys for the excellent Music Gets Us Through. There are several reasons that you will love this record. First of all are the warm bubbly beats, the haunting deep dreamy basslines, rock guitar riffs and the melancholic piano melody. Second great reason is Alex amazing voice that has great quality and pop resonance that make it straight away radio friendly. Third reason is the ability to play this record as warm up to your dj set and change the mood completely or to listen after clubbing to relax your senses. Fourth reason are the great lyrics that are very inspirational  and will inspire you to start making in your imagination your own castles in the sky. Now its time for the remix treatment. On board is Niels van Ahorn who does the uplifting remix and he does it extremely well. His version echoes the classic Paul van Dyk / Vandit melodic style with chord progression, euphoric synths and great application of Alex wonderful vocals. Emotional atmospheric long and teasing breakdown calms your senses for a while while you float on the superb sonic waves. The climax goes on the tech trance meets acid trance direction without any uplifting synths on it. The melodies appear on the last short breakdown along with the nice vocal. I would expect a full on euphoric climax by Niels wanted to take it on another more serious direction. Music Gets Us Through deserves VANDIT stamp of approval! Love it
