REVIEW: Lekesch & Schekel - 1990 E.P. out on Armada Deep

After their latest release ‘Cloud Diving’, Lekesch & Schekel return with a three-track masterpiece on Armada Deep.

Each tune offers a different take on deep grooves, and all three are as perfect for clubs as they are for festival play or just driving around in your car.

There’s a distinctly retro vibe in ‘1990’ as the name would suggest, but these records are so refined that they easily wow in today’s highly crowded scene.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Armada Deep brings superb tracks so far that stand out from the rest and will sound great and fresh even after many years. The secret of the success of the label is the openminded attitude going against the grain and bringing music that is not straight forward hit but can build an audience with the right exposure. The latest release is the stunning EP by Lekesch & Schekel from Heidelberg / Germany called 1990 E.P and includes not one but three must play tracks without any fillers. The title of the EP invite the listener for a time trip back in time to taste once again the pure house vibes of 1990's. First track is called 1990 and as you can easily guess is a deep house production with tribal drums, bubbly funky basslines and very cool spoken vocal sample that sounds like coming from an interview or telephone conversation. The groove will lock you easily while the hypnotic rhythm will put you in a state of calmness. With certain Latin Chicago house vibes and clever playful arrangement with sound effects that will go down great in huge sound systems  and chopped vocals rearranged in surprising ways 1990 is an undeniable dancefloor instant favourite. Famous on the other side goes the indie nu disco pathway with rocky guitar riffs, hip house vocal samples and melody that comes straight from the flower power generation of the 70's. Irresistible groove and great funky rhythm that will do damage and awake your senses on the dancefloor. Minimal chic elements with class and glamour perfect for dark clubs and catwalks too. Last beauty is Safrika that adopts pulsating deep bassline, pounding minimal groove, tribal Africa sounding drums and exotic feel good rhythm along with classic old school vocal samples and elephant voice samples as well. Undeniable exotic rhythm and mesmerising groove that works perfectly in deep underground moist sweaty clubs. Sexy naughty trio of tracks for the perfect house ear "orgy" 100% Deep House Essentials Love It
