REVIEW: Markus Schulz feat. Lady V - Winter Kills Me incl Paul Oakenfold remix on Coldharbour recordings

The journey of a DJ can be defined in multiple facets. The song, the DJ set, the location, the milestone. And following the conclusion of his triumphant Scream story, Markus Schulz embarks on the next chapter. Dedicated to the winter, but resonating beyond every season.

Winter Kills Me highlights Markus' second collaboration with Grammy Award-winning songwriter and vocalist Victoria Horn, who descended into the hearts of many Coldharbour followers thanks to her emotional emission on Scream 2’s stalker anthem sequel, Erase You. Thanks to the electrifying connection, Lady V became an outstanding candidate to star on not just one of Markus' signature career productions, but also to celebrate the 200th release of his Coldharbour outlay.

A year in the making, Winter Kills Me was carefully crafted and held in reserve for the most tender of moments in Markus' tour schedule. The final track of his 2014 residency at Amnesia in Ibiza, the final track of his last ever appearance at Toronto's iconic Guvernment, and the final track at his ambassadorial home of Transmission in Prague; all defined by this soul-inducing melody and vocal. Moments which will be remembered for life.

Along with the outstanding original, Markus welcomes a bona fide legend for his Coldharbour debut. Paul Oakenfold has continually played the role of dance music pioneer, with his desire and impact remaining as infectious today. His take on Winter Kills Me shifts towards the modern big-room sounds, primed for those peak festival moments throughout Christmas and New Year.

And rounding out the package is a Dutch duo who have begun to carve a legacy of their own, thanks to previous Coldharbour anthems such as Apache and Underworld. Fisherman & Hawkins provide the powerful combination of driving bass lines and soaring melodies, which is sure to light up the artillery of many DJ sets worldwide.

It's an incredibly proud moment for Markus and everyone at Coldharbour to celebrate 200 releases. And thanks to the exuberant resonance from the fans so far, Winter Kills Me is a fitting and defining piece.

Dimitri Kechagias review: One of the most definitive and best of all time record label is Coldharbour recordings headed by the dj and producer Markus Schulz who had massive impact on trance music with his own style that many younger producers follow with big faith. Markus Schulz collaborates once again with the very talented singer Lady V for his new single Winter Kills Me which is the 200th release of his beloved record label that seems to be relevant and successful as never before in the past. First of all his own original mix is a dynamic energetic big room vocal trancer with his established dark haunting basslines, pumping kicks that hit you in your stomach and superb breakdown packed with great atmospherics and emotional piano chords that allow Lady V's voice to stand out and dominate with her performance the ambience of any club floor. The climax is  euphoric and hands in the air with feel good synths and vocal parts that work wonderfully upon the tough foundation that is perfect to sing a long when you dance a long with it. Its one of those tracks that can easily permeate the playlists of the mainstream radio stations as well. The legend Paul Oakenfold returns the favour to Markus for his mix on Paul's classic Hypnotized feat Tiff Lacey  and he transforms the original into a very powerful big room trance moster. The breakdown is equally smooth and dreamy but the drop is the time that you will totally lose your brains as the aggressive sharp basslines will burn your brains and energise your adrenaline levels instantly. This is strictly for very loud sound systems so better get ready to crank your subwoofer and drive your parents mad if you decide to play it to them. Last but not least and the real deal in this release is the talented Dutch duo Fisherman & Hawkins who deliver the impressive and extremely dynamic full on hands in the air euphoric feel good trance remix that will be played on repeat mode on many festivals and clubs in the coming months. Superb rough foundation of techy grooves, dark haunting driving basslines, melodic hands in the air breakdown with full vocal followed by their well known rave style synthy hook and intense build up that leads on the feel good positive climax that only these two can do it so perfectly! It can go straight to the Trance Top 10! #PureGold Love iT
