REVIEW: Las Salinas - The Drunken Clam out on VANDIT records

01: The Drunken Clam (Original Mix)

If you ever find yourself out Rhode Island way and happen upon the charming county of Providence, likely you’re journey will end up in the city of Quahog. There, resting among its most numerous attractions is one of the most charming bars you’ll ever set eyes on… The Drunken Clam!

Up till now, The Drunken Clam is not a place overly celebrated in music circles. The TV’s always on and its invariable tuned to the sports channel, where Peter Griffin, and the rest of his Family Guy drinking buddies whoop on whichever football team they hate least.

Israeli duo Las Salinas – they of ‘Break The Spell’ and recent chart-popping Genix link-ups ‘Say Another What’ & ‘Arcadia’ have decided that ‘The Clam’ - as the locals know it - needs a theme… So for their last release of 2014, that’s just what they’ve done!

‘The Drunken Clam’ starts off on an understated, lower-key tip… As emotionally satisfying as your first sip of Pawtucket Patriot, it works refreshingly cool, proggier trance notes into its early sections. As with any night at The Clam though, there’s always a dramatic happening or 20 around the corner. To which at the midpoint Bicher & Harrari raise its trajectory sharply, throwing in hard-groove, rump-shake analogue-ish distortion, tougher kicks and tenser percussion licks. Cold filtering the elevation slowly yet relentlessly throughout the drop, they finally bring ‘The Drunken Clam’ to its supremely upliftingly finale sequence!

A fitting tribute to Quahog’s bar-par-excellence, Las Salinas’ ‘The Drunken Clam’ is served from today!

Dimitri Kechagias review: 2014 was the big year for VANDIT records. For me was the resurrection of this great label that nearly every week released one or two even great tracks from the highest quality artists that the progressive and trance scene has at the moment. Las Salinas from Israel is the hot duo that had great releases on VANDIT and even were honoured to remix Paul van Dyk's classic Crush. Their latest production is called The Drunken Clam and is absolutely beautiful record that moves on the neo progressive trance terrain with infusions from other styles and cool funky edge as well. The track starts all chunky but after a short breakdown returns with a harder punchy techy crunchy bassline, pounding bassline and funky vocal sample here and there. They add slowly the various melodic layers and the track becomes pleasurable and very dreamy as well. The breakdown is exceptional with piano chords that are magical, airy luscious pads and variety of synthy themes. The build up comes to raise the tension until the kick strikes back for the stunning climax that is very emotional, soothing and relaxing while at the same time is very danceable and pleasurable for your ears, mind and soul. After a short breakdown the uplifting sequence gives its turn to the more aggressive funky electro trance part to conclude the track in great style. Another VANDIT records essential item for your coolection. #PureGold #PureClass Love it
