Having delivered anthem after anthem throughout the year - including the Danny Howard Radio 1 endorsed "Run", the UK's Damion Houchen aka Genix rounds off 2014 with a euphoric double header - "Durban" and "Breather".
Immediately erupting into an uncompromising gritty bassline, "Durban" continues to fly off the rails in scintillating fashion. Sweeping chord changes and ever quickening brass toplines collide for an exhilarating peak-time flourish, before falling back into the thunderous big room groove that has already caught the ear of Hardwell and Armin Van Buuren.
Another club orientated offering, "Breather" is a warm prog-trancer, full of the bright melodies that have endeared Genix to so many people. Not to be outdone by its frenetic flip side, "Breather's" chunky groove and plucky top end completes this classy double A-side.
Dimitri Kechagias review: Anjunabeats is at the top of the Beatport trance charts with every single release this year and should be very proud for this achievement. The latest release on the world class record label is from the hands of Genix who simply rocks the soundsystems with his magnificent productions Durban and Breather. Breather is a modern hybrid of epic progressive house with energetic trance synthy themes that will easily excite the big crowds and bring euphoria from head to toe. The bassline is driving and punchy while the groove is dirty with sleazy elements in it that makes it really edgy and quite aggressive. The breakdown starts relaxing with luscious electronic themes and synthy plucks. The build up is intense leading to the euphoric hands in the air climax that has that epic open air festival atmosphere to it. With distinctive sound and powerful arrangement the dancefloor will be superbly busy. Durban moves on the same path with ultra fat pounding drums, maddening electro freaked out sharp bassline and cool dubstep/bass infused music elements. The very danceable first section reaches the breakdown that is packed with optimistic synthy themes, heavenly female voices, piano chords and progressive house style build up with certain Swedish flavour to it. The climax is dynamic and in your face with colorful synths, stop and goes effects and constant variation that never sounds boring or over the top. #PureGold Love it
