ADE 2014: These Guys x 8BHAN ADE special at Rhone Warehouse,18-10-2014

These Guys are known for an eye for upcoming talent and progressive bookings. Their Rhone Warehouse event can be marked as something to look out for at ADE's festival.

For Amsterdam based collectives, such as These Guys, the ADE week is something extra special. Their hometown becomes the central point for electronic dance music minded people from all over the world, making it the perfect stage to show what they stand for. We had a chat with Flip Peeters, Daan van Tulder and Funs Ebus from These Guys to find out what they are up to, how their event has evolved since last year and what ADE means to them:

"ADE has a double meaning for us. First of all it’s the moment where we present our own show. This is the flagship of all the events that we host; our showpiece. It’s the moment that we can share our love for music with a big international crowd. We can show a broad spectrum of music, which represents the These Guys sound. Besides our show, ADE is the place where we can meet and catch up with our international colleagues. Our production on Saturday makes it difficult to attend the full ADE program, it would be ideal if we could visit even more shows and seminars."

This year's ADE is different for These Guys. They look back to their ADE'13 showcase with great pleasure, even stating that it was the best event they produced so far. Still it is time for something new: "We will take it up a notch with a bigger line-up. Plus it will be the launch of a new long-term collaboration. This year's show will be a co-production with 8Bahn, a likeminded promoter from Arnhem. Together we created a line-up with personal favourites. A program that captures the spirit of the time, where contemporary frontrunners (such as A Made Up Sound) stand side by side with pioneers (DJ Stingray 313) from back in the days."

These Guys describe their artist selection criteria as high standard: "We are into music now for over fifteen years. As a result we are not easily impressed. A lot of electronic music out there is too boring for us. We keep on digging and digging, just as long until we get a new hit of exciting music. The ones who give us a thrill are the guys who stand out and are not afraid to go off the beaten track. Besides producing innovative music, proper DJ skills are just as important for us. We book true selectors and artists who know how to get a crowd ecstatic."
