It's another busy festival season, and Coldharbour boss Markus Schulz selects four tracks which will prove to be essential throughout the duration of the summer.
They lit up last summer with their anthem Trickster, and Miami duo Grube & Hovsepian are back at it again with a followup in similar vein by name and by nature - entitled Prankster. Romanian Mr. Pit also delivers in anthemic fashion with Time Traveller, and both tracks are perfect for those peak moments in the live sets.
On the flip side, the beats become darker with the remaining two tracks. Dallas native Omair Mirza, who made his Coldharbour entrance with a bang thanks to Chain Reaction, is back again with another smash named High Roller. And Polish duo Purple Stories, starring for their diversity in production, opt for a big room flavor with Tarantula's Lair.
Whatever festival you play or attend this summer, these four tracks are sure to deliver the goods.
Dimitri Kechagias review: One of the most long leaved EP series is back. Markus Schulz presents the 36th chapter of his Coldharbour Selection series under the subtitle Mainstage Edition. So we are pretty sure that Markus choose the tracks for those djs who perform at the mainstages of the big festivals or for those who imagine that one day will perform at the mainstage of one huge festival. 4 magnificent tracks from Coldharbour recordings regulars included and you would be disappointed without doubts. First of all is the beloved Grube & Hovsepian who are back with big emphasis and huge bang with the anthem Prankster. Can you imagine a bigger progressive trance anthem than this played at the mainstage of your favourite gathering. Powerful punchy bassline, rolling drums and fantastic addictive synthy hook in the breakdown that lead effortlessly the proceedings to the massive hands in the air epic climax that will be remembered for ever. Anthemic to the core Prankster is loud, smashing and very dirty indeed. Mr Pit never fails to impress and his anthem Time Traveller is an old school melodic progressive trancer with electro inspired melodies upon the driving basslines and the pumping groove. The melody in the breakdown is out of this world and travel your senses to faraway places. The main distorted rave style synthy hook is truly euphoric on that Apache style. When the beat kicks back and the track moves to its full on hands in the air climax that rave synthy hook will do the damage and drive the clubbers berserk to say the least combined with classical music piano chords and classic music strings. Purple Stories deliver their big room hard house track Tarantula's Lair and they manage it exceptionally well with hardstyle influenced synths and maddening rough basslines that will do huge damage to get the clubbers jumping up and down without doubts. Last but not least Omair Mirza does his best to impress with his magnificent High Roller that is destined to crank festivals sound system and bring massive riots on the dancefloor. With marching drums, heavy drum rolls, aggressive rough hard style basslines, swirling synths and side chain effects he builds the tension towards his breakdown that is very melodic and then he unleashes his crazy euphoric synths and lead us on the uplifting trance section before the maddening banging drop to push your adrenaline to the maximum. If underground is your world these tracks are truly representative of what is going on there. #PureGold Love iT
