REVIEW: Arnej – Ambrosia out on VANDIT records

01: Arnej – Ambrosia

Arnej was last seen around these VANDIT parts, well almost 12 months ago to today in fact. There he was riding studio-shotgun with PvD, squeezing no small amount of tech burn and toughened trance into last year’s ‘We Are One’ anthem. FFWD a year and the Bosnian-born/Canadian-based man-mountain returns, and with ‘Ambrosia’ delivers a new club-amplifying high.

Mixing up different percentile doses of trance, trance-progressive, techno and progressive house, ‘Ambrosia’ is another exemplary example of Arnej’s always-on-the-move musical direction. Permanently two production steps ahead, marching to his own beat and confounding even the tightest of nano-genre classifications, it’s a dynamic that’s kept his productions & remixes ever in demand for the better part of a decade.

‘Ambrosia’ lights up the engines with cool drums, echoing clave percussion and low frequency oscillated booms. On break approach Arnej brings in techno FX, tougher trance-leaning distortion & plenty of squelch to enhance its force. Opening up into the break, he voyages ‘Ambrosia’ further still over the EDM atlas with mellifluous pads, transcendental piano, the pluckiest of plucked strings and, finally, its exhilarating uplifting trance kiss-off.

Produced with his hallmark multilayer complexity and razor-sharp clarity, ‘Ambrosia’ is Arnej at his idiosyncratic and impossible to stylistically pin-down best. It’s arrives on download stores August 4th.

Dimitri Kechagias review: If you didnt manage yet to catch Paul van Dyk this summer you should try to do so cause the master of trance has definitely one of his best years and his performances remain in your mind for long. It happened to enjoy his Legends of Trance dj set at Tomorrowland and next weekend at Nature One after his glorious performance at Street Parade and I must confess that I'm very impressed for his ability to be so alive and kicking behind the decks while he reconstructs the various tracks in order to keep them fresh and exciting. One of the big tunes for Paul van Dyk is the latest release by Arnej that is called Ambrosia and it must be said that the very inspiring title refers to a very special track as well that stands out and makes wave of intrest at the moment in the global trance community. The track is a modern neo progressive trancer with techy crunchy groove and electro infused sharp bassline that manage to create that irresistible body shaking rhythm that you simply wanna dance with somebody along with it. The top producer further arranges his magical track by adding variety of melodic layers until to land on the breakdown that in contrast with the aggressive main section is very emotional and touching with piano melody that crawls under your skin combined with female vocal samples, variety of clean and effective synth plucks until the beat drops for the full on hands in the air climax that is packed with melodic goodness, positive vibes and even melancholic edge thanks to the piano chords. Second melodic breakdown waits for us to feel the magic of it until ti reached the concluding part! Come on, serve yourself and taste Ambrosia! #PureDiamond Love iT
