REVIEW: Thomas Schwartz & Fausto Fanizza - Kirk EP out on Anjunadeep

Following on from “You Would / Mad Dog”, their impressive debut Anjunadeep release, emerging Italian producers Thomas Schwartz & Fausto Fanizza return to the label with a three track EP, showcasing their masterful melodic touch.

A much sought after track ID from a recent James Grant mix, A-side “Kirk” is a prime example of Thomas and Fausto’s deep, brooding sound. Warm bass is intertwined with stuttering vocal snippets and subtle rising melodies in this gorgeous slow burner.

“This World” sees Schwarz and Fanizza delve deeper still. Pulsating low end builds towards a mesmeric breakdown, full of cascading chimes, atmospheric textures and ethereal vocals. Harking back to the classic Anjunadeep styles of Michael Cassette and Paul Keeley, whilst harnessing the modern label sound, it was an instant favourite at Anjuna HQ.

Showcasing a tougher edge to their repertoire, “Tomahawk” is packed with dark, moody bass notes and pitched down vocal cuts to create a proper peak-time roller. Their trademark melodic touch comes to the fore in another memorable finale.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Anjunadeep is considered to be one of the most authoritative voices in the house scene at the moment. Their releases become instant favourites for many well known djs and fans all over the world. The fanbase of the label is solid and growing and the scale of its popularity facilitated by the fact that the top London based label will host its own stage at the Tomorroworld festival in Atlanta USA. The latest release comes from the beloved duo Thomas Schwartz & Fausto Fanizza who deliver 3 brilliant tunes on their Kirk EP. Firstly is the magnificent Kirk that is an excellent deep melodic house production with many retro elements, electro pop synths, dark industrial synthy riffs, minimal deep dark kick,  fantastic deep haunting bassline and of course stretched vocal samples that work more like another instrument on the track. Its dreamy soothing but very danceable production with trancy edge as well without being strictly on the house side. On the same direction moves the top This World. Really emotional deep progressive music with sensitive synthy leads, cool crowd vocal samples, xylophone melodies, heavenly female sexy voices and of course the industrial edgy synthy riffs that add to the track the darker side that balances the soothing relaxing melodic side. The breakdown hides a very nice surprise for us that is of course the cool singing vocal part that manage to put the whole track into meaningful context from within you can interpret it's magic that will be spread on any dancefloor that will happen to play this exceptional beauty. Last but not least Tomahawk continues on the same deep progressive house pathway with deep moody bouncy irresistible bassline, chunky techy mouthwatering groove while on top they decorate it with emotional retro synthy melodies, cinematic strings, stretched vocal samples and superb relaxing, soothing dreamy atmosphere. When these 3 eclectic house tracks will be played the dancefloor will be packed and smiles will be all over the place! Just note that every time you listen to them you will discover new little sounds that you haven't notice the previous time. #PureGold Love iT
