ADE 2014: The Hybrid Tour comes to ADE Beamlab

British artist Paula Temple and visual artist Jem The Misfit join us for the third edition of ADE Beamlab on October 15 to give an exclusive inside look at their brand new show.

Paula Temple’s in demand hybrid DJ/live sets have her playing non-stop all over Europe. Her latest show, The Hybrid Tour, for which she collaborates with visual artist Jem The Misfit, combines an unique performance setup with stunning visuals (watch the trailer below). At ADE Beamlab Paula and Jem will give an exclusive inside look at the technical and visual side of The Hybrid Tour and share their thoughts on how music and visuals relate to each other.

Temple returned to making and performing music in 2012 following an extended break, and since then, she's launched a record label, Noise Manifesto, and released a well received EP on R&S. Her second EP for R&S is due for release in the week of ADE.

Jem the Misfit is a Berlin based artist, designer and visual performer. She was recently the winner of the Mapping Festivals international VJ competition in Geneva and was selected as a fellow for the MusicMakers Hacklab at CTM festival (DE) (2013). She frequently works with international festivals, music venues and artists to produce content, develop stage design and perform live video. Her carefully crafted performances create spatial and textural landscapes, responding intuitively with the audio.

Alongside their appearance at ADE Beamlab, Paula Temple and Jem the Misfit can be seen in action with their Hybrid Tour at EYE on October 17.

On Friday 17 October 2014, BAUHAUS will host the much-appraised and highly anticipated HYBRID A/V show by Paula Temple and Jem the Misfit at the awe-inspiring EYE Museum. As the first lady of R&S Records, Paula Temple teams up with award-winning visual artist Jem the Misfit for an unprecedented techno-infused spectacle. After having premiered at Krake Festival 2014 in Berlin, the show tours around festivals and clubs in Europe and will see its Benelux-exclusive premiere on the Friday evening of Amsterdam Dance Event.

Both Paula Temple and Jem the Misfit worked collaboratively on HYBRID and made it into an integrated experience of immersive visuals and full sonic impact. As it will be shown during ADE, both artists have altered their performance exclusively for this festival.

The venue of choice is the dramatic yet sleek and uniquely built EYE Museum, located on the IJ behind Central Station. As EYE did for Jeff Mill’s performance “Woman In the Moon” during ADE 2013, the dynamic and mysterious location opens up once again for a night of spectacle.

BAUHAUS kicks off the evening with a specially tailored performance by Mark Maenad, the uncrowned ‘King of Loops’ of Amsterdam. Coming from a producer background, Mark performs with his hardware studio equipment and has a nack for using rare instruments. Known for his raw fashion of techno, for this occasion, he’ll be making a special, more downtempo set that will fit perfectly in the setting of the night. Don’t be surprised if he brings his didgeridoo along.

After the show, BAUHAUS will host an after party with its residents DJ of the Amsterdam underground and international headliners, including Paula Temple. The details of this party will be disclosed later.
