REVIEW: Mohamed Bahi - Atlas Highland out on VANDIT records

01: Atlas Highland

Hailing from a space not greatly enlightened to his musical ethos, Mohamed Bahi is the first to recognize that his fellow Casablancans have yet to attune to high horsepower trance. Never mind Mohamed, Morocco's loss is the rest of the world's gain! Here to show them what they're missing, with the dancefloor engaging 'Atlas Highland', Mohamed delivers his first release to VANDIT's door.

Serrated riffs, rolling drums, echoed female harmonics and deliciously tense intro melodies all mark the start of the journey to 'Atlas Highland'. From there Bahi deploys prowling, pitching acid lines to further heady the brew, before dropping it, from height, into a bottomless ocean of sensational pad & chord-isms.

Programming the break's arrangement for maximum impact, he slowly allows those tweaking 303s to creep their way back in. Finally, with a dazzling production sleight of production hand, he uncorks a huge side-chain-compressed, stadium-sized synth riff.

Need to ensure absolutely every single foot in the room is on the floor this month? 'Atlas Highland' holds the key, and from June 19th so will you!

Dimitri Kechagias review: It is such a big pleasure to find out that the legendary record label VANDIT records headed by the most influential dj Paul van Dyk returns in full force with one or even two releases every week representing the various trance substyles in the finest possible direction. The brand new release is what we can term as the pure uplifting trance sound that will blow your soundsystem and create mayhem on the dancefloor. It is a serious peak time dj set contender and will do big damage without getting too overexcited or over the top. Banging pumping techy groove and punchy dominating kick is merged beautifully with energetic driving basslines, acid overtones and little synthy riffs. The breakdown comes quite early in contrast with other tracks. The atmosphere is really great as it starts very deep and emotional with heavenly voices, variety of synthy plucks and emotional slightly pitched piano melody. The build up with the classic drum roll lead us on the full on euphoric hands in the air climax that is pure and straight forward.  Slowly he adds all his soundlayers together and upon the tough foundation except the synthy hook sprinkles his emotional piano melody too. The result is a wonderful UK style uplifting trancer with prominent the VANDIT / Paul van Dyk influence! #PureGold Love iT
