“Trance Mission” is Paul Oakenfold’s new album. It features a collection of Oakie covers of some of his all time favourite records and “Madagascar” (originally by Art of Trance) is the fourth single from the album (Following Toca Me, Café Del Mar and Ready Steady Go). And this one is for the die hard Fluoro fans.
“Madagascar” was released on Simon Berry’s Platipus label in 1998 and has seen a number of remixes since.
Paul: “This was a huge record by Art of Trance who were amazing pioneering producers signed to Platipus Records back in the day. This first came out in 1998 with remixes from Cygnus X and then the record went stratospheric when Ferry Corsten and PUSH remixed it little later. This was Cream Courtyard anthem of massive proportions and it was a lot of fun making this new cover version, which I wanted to keep in a pumping full on trance style.”
As well as the killer original which features Paul in full throttle Fluoro mode “Madagascar” features new remixes from trance stalwart Yahel and, fresh from his remix of The Smuggler From Bombay, 140 tech god Harmonic Rush.
Mac & Monday complete the package with a classy take in trademark M&M style.
Trance Mission album is released on June 20th.
Dimitri Kechagias review: It's going to be definitely the trance album of the year. The pioneer of the trance genre Paul Oakenfold retouches in his own very special direction some of the biggest trance anthems in his eagerly awaited album Trance Mission. He decided that rather than doing remixes the best is to produce the tracks from the scratch with the Paul Oakenfold stamp all over them. The brand new single taken from the album is Madagascar that is still remembered thanks to top Ferry Corsten & Push remixes. Paul Oakenfold for this particular track he goes for the full on uplifting trance direction and the final outcome is more than impressive. Powerful tough drums, sharp rough kicks, driving energetic basslines that push the track forward while on top he adds the cool original synthy layers, heavenly trance voices and aggressive acid overtones as well. The breakdown is very atmospheric and emotional until the brilliant euphoric synthy hooks that awake up straight away memories from the hard disc of our minds. Superb real old school trance synthy melody that drives the track to its massive full on hands in the air climax that is energetic, techy, uplifting and very acidic as we like it to be. Pure solid as mountain Rock Trance at its very best. The beloved psy trance super star Yahel from Israel is on board and his remix stays true to his established psy trance sound that is energetic, dynamic, euphoric with progressive melodic trance infusions as well but always on that authentic psy trance style.Harmonic Rush is another super hot talent that manage to build big following as a result of his tough trance bangers. His remix is powerful dynamic driving energetic tech trance with uplifting and psy trance elements as well. The dark hard trance first part becomes a bit sweeter and melancholic in the breakdown followed by huge euphoric hard trance climax that doesn't apply the well known synthy as profound as the other remixes and he rather uses it in a very loose way. Harmonic Rush will blow your mind that's for sure. Last but not least the hot Dutch duo Mac & Monday are doing an excellent remix that recalls their classic tribal trance sound that is energetic, powerful and very pure and honest as well. They deliver an excellent remix that is floating and flowing able to give you shivers from head to toe. Mac & Monday are beloved Magicians and super clever wizards of trance and we hope to see them more active in the trance scene again. This remix proves that they never lost their hardcore trance soul! Fantastic remix package that deserves beatport trance number 1 position and big support in the summer festivals. Looking forward for Paul Oakenfold performance at the Trance Addict stage at Tomorrowland! Don't miss his set! #PureGold LoveiT
