REVIEW: Fanatico - Dazed & Remixed out on Yellow Tail / Blu Fin

We had such good remixes for Fanatico and because it is timeless alone by the voice of Jorge, that's why we have decided to release a remix album including all Remixes we got. Thanks again to all Remixers for the great work ...we really hope you will enjoy.

Ranging from electronica to experimental, from minimal pop to state of the art song deconstruction, this first album of the transatlantic duo Fanatico will comprise a diverse selection of cover songs as well as new original material. Can you imagine Patti Smith and Led Zeppelin tracks with dance beats? You will after listening to “Dancing Daze”.

Fanatico is a new project of DJ-producer Mathias Schaffhäuser and vocalist Jorge Socarrás from New York.

The project came about when Mathias Schaffhäuser did a remix of a track from the Patrick Cowley and Jorge Socarrás vintage 70’s album, “Catholic,” which was retro-released in 2009 by Macro Music, Berlin. The two men had never met, but Socarrás contacted Schaffhäuser to say how much he liked the remix. Schaffhäuser, who was an old fan of Socarrás’ 80’s band, Indoor Life, replied suggesting that perhaps they might work together sometime. Through subsequent emails both expressed how they’d each been wanting to interpret some cover songs, eventually leading to Socarrás going to Köln in August 2010 and spending a week recording with Schaffhäuser in his studio. The two had remarkable chemistry from the start, working together as if they were longtime music partners. Indeed Socarrás felt that in Schaffhäuser’s envelope-pushing minimalism he’d found a contemporary successor to his earlier collaborators.

Dimitri Kechagias review:  Dancing Daze is one of the coolest electronic music albums that surfaced in 2013 with superb recreations of many well known songs from the past in tottaly different electronic dance music context. The winning combination of Mathias Schaffhäuser brilliant production skills and Jorge Socarrás dark and emotional vocals have elevated Dancing Daze into a cult status album. Dazed and Remixed  is a wonderful opportunity to collect in one single handy album the fantastic remixes that all of them have been released in the past within great EP's. The  brand new remix album is certainly an opportunity not to be missed for those who still appreciate quality electronic dance music sounds. First of all So Fine aka Citizen Kain put his hands on the magnificent Tessio and service a mesmerising deep tech house version that is summery sun shinning and really relaxing and very danceable at the same time. Chunky groovy beats, funky basslines, rock guitars build a road movie like atmosphere that will lock you in its groove straight away and carry you on board for a hypnotic journey. On the other hand G.C.P. embarks for a very cool balearic house interpretation with tribal groovy beats, playful basslines, ambient style sounds, old school organ riffs and piano melodies too. The result is cool, calming, soothing and absolutely magical. Jack The Box remix the magnificent Whatever Gets You Through The Night and they service a powerful banging tribal techno 9 minutes epic version that is powerful, energetic and work perfectly with the superb vocals. Its the kind of track that djs like Danny Tenanglia or Dubfire could easily play in their sets. On Dreams  the talented Hans Nieswandt provides his raw techno version that starts with breakbeat style intro and then moves to the more energetic old school infused version that sounds more analogue than digital. From the vocal he uses just a small phrase and highlights the word Thunder. If you like the sharper more uncompromising techno sounds Hans delivers the right remix for you. Lady Blacktronika remix on Dancing Days is a powerful old school techno version with great flavours from the past. It actually reminds me Dave Angel bouncy pumping techno sound. Its very upfront with dominating pounding fearful basslines and very dark  moody atmosphere. Moritz Ochsenbauer & David Floyd feat. Jakob Reiter remix starts with nice piano intro and with the cool vocal on top. The main part of the track is quite tripping chilling relaxing and playful. It makes you think of sunny holidays and yourself dancing on this track barefoot in the sand. Experimental electronica blissful version from eclectic tastemakers. Tim Schroeder retouches Dancing Days and he service a wonderful deep techy version that lock you instantly in its electronic groove and hypnotic atmosphere. Excellent application synthy melodies that add that electro pop 80's feel to it. Its one of those tracks that you can resist the beat, the rhythm and the excellent atmosphere. Prepare to dance then. The legend and pioneer Mathias Schaffhäuser presents his own make over to Dancing Barefoot and he goes on the minimal deep house direction that he is an expert of course. His many years of experience are reflected on his composition style that make you feel like watching a live band performing and less that is a computer programmed track. Awesome percussion and deep haunting basslines with minimal use of the vocals in a very creative dubby way. It has so much sunlight and sea that makes you wanna dance barefoot straight away without thinking of the consequences. Quality sparkling electronic dance music for those who still have faith in the underground. On Tessio the  Kink remix reshapes the track into a very enjoyable deep tech house version with old school piano themes and various synthy melodies that create the latin touch to it. 2000 Light Years From Home is remixed by Jeremy Caulfield & Martin Eyerer and finally Mathias presents his dub remix. If you like atmospheric hypnotic deep tech house you are going to adore it. Dark moody minimal techy grooves with deep basslines and cool piano chords that run on top to create the blissful balearic atmosphere. Top remix album that brings under one roof the finest artists to remix Fanatico's jewels. Love iT
