Our good friend Anthony Yarranton is back with another superb release on Axon Recordings. Fresh from his recent work on labels such as Proton, Particles and Bonzai.
Anthony's previous two-track EP released with Axon showed his darker side. The 'Crows' / 'Snake Charmer' EP received some fantastic feedback and support from a wide range of DJs such as Slam, The Dolphins, Scotty.A and usual suspects Hernan Cattaneo and Guy Mantzur. His most recent remix offering with us was a tasty remix of 'Neon Waterfall' by Frank Maris. Once again showcasing his deep, techy house sound.
With 'Ultra MK' and 'Trading Paces', Anthony delves deeper in to this genre. He keeps it simple, with a no-nonsense approach, great percussive elements, and plenty of groove.
Whether it's the deep and minimal sound of 'Ultra MK', featuring an awesome vocal sample, or 'Trading Paces', with it's bouncy bassline and clever old school samples, we hope you enjoy the whole EP.
Dimitri Kechagias review: Anthony Yarranton strikes back on Axon recordings. Ultra MK / Trading Paces are the two contestants that compete to win your 12 points. Ultra MK is a magnificent atmospheric deep tech house groover that starts with cinematic atmosphere, deep mysterious basslines and chunky beats to make you dance. What stands out here is the cool spoken vocal sample that seems to come from a movie as it has that cinematic atmosphere to it. Also the speech is quite deep and meaningful and makes you think if it is sci-fi or if it is a reality. Trading Paces is the more funky spacey futuristic and experimental as well tech Detroit house track . Danceable groove, great funky basslines, electronic melodies, old school spoken vocal samples, melodramatic sounds and great atmosphere that manage easily to carry you away and keep you dancing and shaking with huge smile in your face. Tech House At its Best! Love it
