REVIEW: Will Atkinson - Isolator / Unknown Lifeform out on Subculture

1. Isolator
2. Unknown Lifeform

John O’Callaghan’s Subculture is proud to present the new Will Aktinson double feature ‘Isolator/Unknown Lifeform’ as a follow up to previous Beatport hits and label releases ‘Deep Impact’ and ‘Watch Out’. First track ‘Isolator’ rolls out with a massive bassline and techy sounds, slowly turning into a massive trancer as it goes. ‘Unknown Lifeform’ takes it up a notch with its out-of-space breakdown and dark full-on riffs. Two essential tunes
for the clubs and Spring festivals!

Dimitri Kechagias review: The top record label Subculture that is about to host its own 2 day mega events in Amsterdam along with FSOE Recordings presents the double tracker Isolator and Uknown Lifeform by the magnificent Scottish trance dj & producer Will Atkinson. Scotland is one of the few countries that they like it hard and uplifting and Will does his best to prove it and impress us with two jaw dropping masterclasses on how to produce uplifting trance that is relevant and current. Isolator is a modern uplifting trancer that is not afraid to apply elements from other substyles as well like psy trance and tech trance. Very creative approach that manage to keep us interested dancing with hands in the air from the first beat till the last kick. Tough hard trance drums, sharp kicks, acid overtones to keep dark and filthy while the main chord progression Paul van Dyk style appears and leads the track nicely to his breakdown. Its long and atmospheric mainly used to reveal in its entirety the magnificent melody that is impossible not to touch you really deep except if you are cold hearted. The beat kicks back for the full on euphoric climax and now we are on board for the ride of our lifetime as we go fast and furious through planets and faraway galaxies. Short breakdown and the track completes its mission as it started in more tech trance / neo psy trance fashion. Second top track is called Uknown Lifeform. It starts really tribal techno meets UK hard house style but very soon he develops upon his rolling tribal beats vocal samples and dark and sinister synthy leads. The breakdown is mysterious and spacey with distorted spoken vocal sample that sounds like a green martian talking along with melodramatic strings. The beat returns for another full on hands in the air sequence followed by another shorter breakdown that main synthy leads are distorted and the cool sub bass keeps the intensity level really high until the beat to say again Hello for the final battle against those Unkown Lifeforms. If you play dark underground moody trance this track is right at your door. #PureGold Love iT
