After wowing us with his jaw dropping remix of Liquid Soul’s ‘Nivana’, we were honoured when Activa personally requested to remix one of our recent releases! After consistently putting out top class productions, one after the other, Activa focused special attention on the underground tech trance banger ‘Tantrum’, by Daniel Skyver.
With the original already featuring on BBC Radio 1’s ‘Essential Mix’ with Jordan Suckley, as well as many of the ASOT 650 live broadcasts, what better way to follow up than a psy-oriented remix by one of the scenes true pioneers.
The space and depth in Activa’s remix is simply incredible - far removed from the many cluttered trance productions that flood the scene in this day and age. His remix builds slowly and steadily with moving synth licks, subtle psy kicks and scattered fx, leading into a sublime kick and bass combo that keeps the production driving along nicely. During the breakdown, shades of the main theme from the original appear over a newly penned chord progression, building intensely with acid synth lines that take this mix to another level when it drops.
This will be huge in the clubs!
Dimitri Kechagias review: Monster Force is back with another high class gem for your future trance sets. The magical Tantrum that was released early 2014 is remixed by the legendary producer Activa who seems that he has adopted the neo psy trance sound and becomes one of the true pioneers of this incredibly fluorescent and popular amongst trancers sound. Of course Activa doesn't forget his uplifting trance past and for that reason his sound is truly unique as it melts the psy trance aesthetics with the euphoric trance touches and turn his sound into a whole new style that is really appealing for very diverse audiences. When you hear his rework on Tantrum for the first time you get the impression of something that is truly energetic and epic. It can easily grab you from your hand and bring you right in the middle of the dancefloor with hands in the air and shivers from head to toe. Powerful psy trance sledgehammer style kicks that work together with the driving bassline, ethnic style voices and superb sound effects that lead us nicely in the breakdown that is the moment of relaxation and meditation to calm your senses. The euphoric synthy lead comes to the surface just to remind us that we hear the remix of Tantrum along with tough kicks to build anticipation. The tension is relieved when the beat kicks back for the final psy trance sequence that is subtle, energetic, travelling and of course dark, moody and underground! Love IT
