REVIEW: Johann Stone - White Walkers incl Steve Morley remix on Discover Dark

Icelandic producer and DJ Johann Stone debuts on the Discover Dark label with 'White Walkers'; a chilling, daunting and overtly cold production, brimming with acid, frost and darkness.

Accompanying the original is a terrific remix from Steve Morley which applies a more prolonged groove to the original.

Winter is coming, and the White Walkers move through the woods.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Discover Dark continues to surprise us pleasantly with top releases. The next one is produced by Johann Stone and is called White Walkers. Its a powerful hard trancer with tech trance influences as well. Solid and banging to the maximum is so good that if this release doesn't manage to move and shake you I don't know what will. Its arrangement will keep you occupied on the dancefloor letting all the inhibitions go and dancing along with those mysterious and threatening White Walkers. The breakdown is cinematic with stunning sound design with main stand out element the fantastic female spoken vocal sample about the White Walkers. The fear and insecurity you feel will give you goosebumps. The excitement though reaches red when the beat strikes back and we reach the magnificent climax. Its super hard with thunderous basslines and the epic synthy lead on top to make you feel like the hero of a movie against the forces of evil. Steve Morley after years of silence is back with many remixes and originals on various labels. On this one he delivers a much more straight forward uplifting trancer that remains on the dark underground style though. His climax is more steady without reaching the heights that the original version does with so much artistry. Of course Steve's remix is great for the moment you want to keep the dancefloor pumping but without over excitment. Love iT
