REVIEW: Universal Solution - Yukon / Tora Bora / String Therapy out on Anjunadeep

One of this years exciting new additions to the Anjunadeep family, Universal Solution aka Gavin Holland brings us an impressive debut EP, following on from the recent success of his two contributions to James Grant's Anjunadeep 05 CD.

The captivating "Yukon", one of the aforementioned Anjunadeep 05 favourites, is a blissful and dreamy affair full of interwoven melodies, subtle atmospherics and classic progressive influences.

"Tora Bora" sees Universal Solution exploring deeper territories, combining trademark rolling percussion with rich, warm pads, reminiscent of classic 90's US house. Meanwhile the lazy groove unravels as delicate melodies play off washing soundscapes in this hypnotic gem.

"String Therapy" starts with a simple percussive groove and gradually flows into a dreamy cruise built around eery melodies and shimmering cymbals. Slow-burning and sophisticated, "String Therapy" is a showcase of Holland's flair for subtlety.

The brilliant Tom Middleton, one of Gavin's biggest influences, turns in a typically masterful remix of "Yukon". Fusing the intricate melodies of the original with a sumptuous rising bassline results in a classic Middleton anthem, complete with a mammoth breakdown.

Release Date: 14th October 2013

Dimitri Kechagias review: The beloved  house specialised record label Anjunadeep seems to rock the big crowds at the moment with its magnificent releases that move in and out of the deep tech house arena and even reaching the deep trance realms as well. The brand new Universal Solution EP is here to offer you moments of relaxation, rejuvenation and esoteric harmony that is so much needed particularly in a club environment or for home listening. Away from the heavy dose of noisy sounds this EP concentrates on the composition side attempting to communicate great untold stories with warm atmosphere, innovative arrangement and cinematic textures.  Yokon is a dreamy calming track that starts with an ambient intro and slowly builds its various sound layers in the most effective way. The bubbly beats, the deep haunting basslines, the great percussion with tribal balearic feel of it reassures the listener and carry the clubbers for a magic journey. The ethereal female vocal is adding that out of space atmosphere and creates the warm blanket that covers the listeners. Tom Middleton never fails to impress and remind us of his legend status. His version is deep, soothing, therapeutic and absolutely mouthwatering. Its one of those tracks that switch's on your imagination and your mind starts to build its own mental images. Colourful synths, heavenly  voices, deep  basslines and warm strings come together in perfect harmony and  drive the track to an explosive crescendo moment. The balearic journey continues with Tora Bora. This particular track goes even deeper with funky groovy soulful house feel to it. You are expecting from somewhere to hear a great deep male or female singer coming out on the surface and transfer you back to the unforgettable old school house days. It smells and sounds Ibiza to me when I dance to the dancefloor and swim upon its warm soundwaves. Lastly String Theory is moving towards the lounge house direction sounding so tranquil, hypnotic and calming. Perfect to warm up the proceedings or to listen at home after a heavy day at work. Love iT
