REVIEW: Withakay - Octat incl Che Armstrong remix out on Axon Recordings

We're very happy to welcome back Withakay with another release for us on Axon Recordings. His previous releases with us have seen his tracks gain the support of DJs such as Nick Muir, Barry Jamieson, Cid Inc and Luke Porter. He's a very talented producer, with a great unique sound.

Withakay is a self-confessed lover of analogue synths, and he always puts them to great use in his tracks. His orignal mix of 'Octat' is no exception, as he serves up a superb piece of melodic techno. With just enough rawness to work with the melodies, the track builds well using a great percussive groove. Another great piece of work from Withakay.

First up on remix duties is label boss Che Armstrong. Che has taken a stripped back approach and has created tasty progno version (sitting between progressive and tech house). Using a great rolling bassline and some techy percussion, this version could work well for a lot of DJs. Of course, Che has added some great old-school sounding pads to build the atmosphere further.

The final remix comes from Yuriy From Russia. Yuriy keeps things interesting with his tech house version, which breaks the mold and makes great use of the original elements alongside some nice percussive elements. He's given his remix a great groove that should keep you head nodding throughout!

Dimitri Kechagias review: Axon recordings is superb small underground house record label with quality releases so far. The brand new must have track comes from Withakay and is called Octat. Quality production that moves in and out of techno with house and progressive influences in play. Hypnotic, brooding and so spacious is definitely a noteworthy record packed with incredible atmosphere that will move the crowds this summer. Label boss Che put his underground hands on it and he transforms it into a massive deep progressive house version that is packed with understated melodic themes, continuous drive, warm strings that keep the atmosphere interesting. Last but not least Yuriy From Russia unleashes his top melodic tech house version that sounds perfect in large sound systems. It will lock you in its groove and keep you dancing non stop. Like IT.
