A fresh addition to the Anjunadeep stable, the highly regarded Belgian pairing of Jean Vanesse and Thomas Sohet, aka Spirit Catcher, make a bold entrance with the brilliant "Black Pitch EP".
Having graced seminal labels 2020Vision, Moodmusic and Freerange over their 10 year career, Spirit Catcher have continued to push a deep, funk-informed groove. Incorporating melodic 80s vibes and modern electronic influences, the "Black Pitch EP" showcases their dynamic sound at its finest.
Setting the tone perfectly, title track "Black Pitch" comes straight out of the blocks with a dark, immersive baseline, before delicate melodies and rising pads combine for a swirling crescendo - tied together with an infectious vocal hook.
With hallmarks of a classic house track, "Vintage Point" teases a rising techno-influenced groove and builds to a discordant climax.
Taking things deeper still, "Miss U Right Now" rounds off the EP. Crisp percussion and a rolling groove lay the foundation for a slow burning jam, complete with hypnotic bass stabs and another spoken word refrain.

Dimitri Kechagias review: The highly regarded and highly respected record label Anjunadeep presents another real jewel for your eclectic house collection. The fantastic Belgian duo Spirit Catcher service the magnificent Black Pitch EP that includes 3 right at the spot gems. Black Pitch feat. 72 Soul is a superb dreamy deep tech house lazy club shaker with cool dark whispering male vocals plus some classic house vocals as well. The whole production is so futuristic with roots in the electro pop sound of the 80s and the resurrected acid / Balearic house early 90's sound. Vintage Point is superb instrumental dark deep prog house track with melodramatic synths, haunting deep basslines, mysterious exotic vocals and cold techy chunky beats. Lastly Muss you right now featuring 72 Soul is an excellent sound adventure into the unknown with old school sounds, dark sexy male vocals and sexy luring erotic atmosphere. Its one of those tracks that you drop in a warm up set and you notice your crowd to start moving their feet and at the end of it everybody is under its influence locked in the stand out groove. 3 superb compositions that talk to the future generations with elements from the past. As it seems when everything is fast and digital some artists can sense that the crowd need to escape to the "safe" musically past sounds translated for younger clubbers needs. Love iT
