Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) and Beamlab team up again for a dedicated visuals program at Pakhuis de Zwijger.
After a successful first edition in 2012 - including the inspiring stories behind Amon Tobin ISAM Live, Addictive TV and Nobody Beats The Drum - ADE and Beamlab are ready to take the next step. ADE Beamlab will be a platform where creatives and technicians can express themselves and exchange innovative ideas, create new partnerships and learn about future scenarios, with some of the worlds top artists and professionals talking about content, techniques, concepts and the growing importance of visuals in the international dance and concert industry. With keynote presentations by top stage designers, live video operators, motion graphic designers and visual artists Beamlab is ADE's melting pot for sound and moving images.
WERC
WERC is a multidisciplinary art collective in Groningen, the Netherlands. With four members - three artists and their manager - the collective focusses on all sorts of new media practices. Often this ends in a fusion between the physical and digital world. A recurring concept in a lot of their work, as seen in their VJ stage designs and projection mapping. WERC does a lot of visuals for dance events and festivals. You’ve probably seen their work at Noisia Invites, Awakenings, Lowlands, Fiber Festival and Amsterdam Dance Event. Future plans: develop a more immersive event experience. A total package with implemented light, visuals and spatial design.
Next to visuals they experiment and do research about augmented reality. Their autonomos installations are more about the surrounding of the work, the response of the audience, and creating an interaction between the two. Besides these visuals WERC works on graphic design, film and animation. They implement and combine these more traditional media with the modern digital media leading to new and contemporary results.
