REVIEW: Thomas Datt - Dead Machines (Feat Ben Lost) / Narani out on Discover Records

1-Dead Machines(Original mix)
2-Dead Machines(Club mix)
3-Narani(Original mix)
4-Narani(Matthew Dune remix)

For our 100th single release we wanted something special in terms of artist and tracks together with something that sums up the ethos of the label.

Without much deliberation we decided on Thomas Datt who first released with us on Discover10 and who had a huge end to 2012 with his critically accllaimed debut artist album "Picking Up The Pieces".

His collaboration with Federation's Ben Lost initially featured on the album in its original form fusing chillout with breaks and dark and poignant vocals.

This mix features on the single package but the lead track here is Thomas's brand new club mix which brings it back into 4 to the floor territory whilst loosing nothing of its dark and gritty vibe.

We have also included Narani. A long time unreleased favourite from Datt's live and radio shows whilst finishing up with a remixer who has been exciting us for a while now, "Matthew Dunne", who turns in s great take on Narani.

Dimitri Kechagias review: It's always big pleasure to see fantastic record labels that stay true to the spirit of trance to celebrate great anniversaries like Discover records celebrates its 100th release. As you can imagine particularly for this release something really special is in stores for us. The Mr Beautiful Trance melodies himself aka Thomas Datt presents two of his top tracks Dead Cities feat Ben Lost and Narani. Dead Cities in its original shape is a magnificent electronica track with cinematic atmosphere. Its one of those tracks that you could easily imagine to be part of a science fiction movie. The sound design is exceptional and the whole production is on the magnificent standards we expect from Thomas who is well known for electronica/down tempo productions as well. The melody in this track will crawl under your skin and Ben Lost voice highlights with its aggressive punk colour the uncompromising character of the track. The club mix  is the perfect makeover for the big rooms and uplifting trance sets. Full on and straight to the point is vocal euphoric trance at its finest. Solid, thumping and punchy with the melodies flowing and flirting with the listener and Ben Lost adding with his voice that dark and unresting feeling as well. Underground trance is not dead. Narani on the other side  is the progressive trance side of Thomas with bubbly basslines, chunky beats, magical piano melodies, luscious synths, and those ethnic vocals on top to travel your spirit to far away lands. For those who wish to play this mesmerising anthem to their uplifting trance set Matthew Dune is on remix duties and he transforms the atmospheric original into the banging booming energetic uplifting smasher with difference and acid tones you were looking for! Pure quality not quantity for Discover. Happy 100th anniversary Chris and the crew. Love iT!
